Royston Drenthe played more games for the Real Madrid senior team than that guy has managed for Real Madrid Castilla, and he was only average for this division.

I wouldn't get too excited about Real Madrid cast-offs. It's like signing a Man Utd cast off who will take time to settle into a new country/league.

I know SERNWA is a WUM, but I kind of have to agree that I don't see how MK Dons are any better than their team last season. They had Afobe and Grigg, now they have Simon Church and a 19 year old striker.

They will certainly need better striking options than Simon Church.Works hard tbf to him but he wont be the sort of player to score 20+ goals in a season.

What's intriguing? All the relegated sides have kept an abundance of quality in their squads and the promoted sides haven't made any improvements to their squads, it would be folly to predict anything different.
I don't think there would be anything surprising about any of those teams finishing in those positions, I just thought it was interesting.

We're relying on the core of the team that took us up to remain solid and hard to beat at this level. Gamble.

If we add Vermijl and Hammill to the squad (as rumoured) on top of Cunningham, Pickford and Keane then we will definitely have a stronger team than the one we finished the season with (providing Pickford is a competent keeper) but as per, I think Grayson will make his 'key' signings mid-season. Hopefully by that stage we're not scrapping for points in the bottom three.

Lots of ifs and buts with our current squad and I thought more people would have us down as relegation candidates as we haven't made any 'wow' signings.

My main comfort is that I have faith in the Garner/ Beckford partnership, even though many neutrals would disagree.

Strangely Vermijl was involved Saturday and netted a belter so maybe he is staying.

People seem confident he will sign today at our end but fuck knows, so much bullshit has been spouted this pre-season i've given up.

Really hard year to predict, hull if expect to be up there, qpr will start bad sack their manager and then come good, burnley aren't that strong anyway IMO. The promoted sides haven't done much to improve themselves either from what I've seen. Even boro have lost their 2 main strikers, anybody's this year

Hull

Blackburn
Ipswich
Qpr

Regarding Blackburn they look alright now, but in a months time when the majority of their squad is sold to keep them from going bust, they'll be lucky to stay up.

You'd be better off starting Humphrey than Hammill.

Carruthers was always touted as the replacement for Alli. we have also sign Real Madrid Castilla captain Sergio Aguza. he must be fairly good.
Grigg has been replaced by Sam Gallagher, i dont know how he'll perform but I doubt Grigg would have scored 20+ for us this season.

Sub standard replacements then...

Only Marshall and Rhodes left that are any good.

What about Tommy Spurr though..??? :2thumb:

I was struggling for top 6 teams tbh, Blackburn weren't that far off last year and haven't lost everyone yet as they were expected to do, thats the only reason they're in there

We'll sell Rhodes and Marshall, they're the only ones worth anything. We won't stay up if we sell them both.

Surprised so many have Burnley to finish in top three..........I think somewhere between 5th and 12th is more realistic.

You all predicted us to win the league last summer too, and look what fucking happened! In fact, I'm now blaming you lot, instead of McClaren...

Rather be underdogs but I honestly think people are folly to discount us. Another 1 or 2 signings likely apparently and our starting XI at least is pretty good to be fair. Top 2 is a bit ridiculous but I wouldn't rule us out of a top 6 push. Silvestri, Berardi, Bellusci, Bamba, Taylor, Byram, Mowatt, Cook, Adeyemi, Dallas and Wood is a side I wouldn't swap for tooooo many other sides. But we shall see. I guess a lot of them are players that people don't know much about but I like our team this year which no doubt means we'll go down

I'm optimistic about our chances. I like the way Clement has put his own stamp on things and the players we've signed look to be of the right 'sort'.

Weimann and Ince run themselves into the ground, along with Ince. We have Martin and Bent upfront. Shackell, Baird and Pearce added to our defence and the biggest plus of all - George Thorne fully fit and 100% for the opening game. Hendrick and Hughes are in great shape, too. I always thought they lacked a little bit of fitness, but they look to have been put through their paces this pre-season and it shows.

Lots of options, lots of variety and lots of leaders in the squad.

The only team I think have improved enough to push for the play-offs from last season in this division is Leeds, and maybe Fulham. The rest will be from those who chased it last season and the relegated teams. Although, Burnley and QPR could be a mixed bag. Burnley have lost some very key players and could find it difficult.

Well no but I would sooner have our squad. But I think most fans like their own players...
