Well here we go with our tour over the next month, through difficult circumstances, but to be honest we cannot complain when others have 100 times worse to deal with.

Good news is travel is looking likely to be free which is a big bonus, gates will no doubt be down as I expect only half the normal gate will travel so looking at maybe 1,500 odd here.....but noise may be better as that 1,500 will be clumped together which could help.

Notts C first, as Preston, £15 a ticket for anyone in Preston thinking about it............very good to see a Discount, wonder if we got some help to do that.

We've clearly got the best home stadium in this league now by far. Whoever said we were tinpot? With this ground we should be playing in the Championship! :cool1:

As for the match I am sure our manager Keith Curle will want to get a victory even more so with us being against his old club Notts County who were wrong to sack him. It looks to me like they have some rather fickle fans there and since they got rid of him they've pretty much been going down hill ever since.

I reckon this'll be a high-scoring game, hopefully Curle persists with the attacking style of play. It's a winnable match against an inconsistent County side, though they have some decent players for this level. Noble will probably score.

Can you imagine Steady Eddie up against Jabo?

We know for sure how good and ERRATIC Noble can be but as for our other former player Mike Edwards I can only laugh! Especially if he was to score against us. :gmc:

Arguable. Curle showed with us that he could be a good manager, but it took being sacked to learn that he was allowed to sign players not represented by his own son...

Edwards has been great since randomly coming back into the team (again). He's scoring at something like 1 in 3 as well, might be injured for this tho.

We're fucking terrible away from home, but maybe we'll be confused by the neutral venue.

I honestly think we'll lose this. I've no idea why after the way we've been playing recently, but Notts county are clearly underachieving when you look at their squad.... And we seem to like giving teams that morale boosting win to really kick start their season.

It being moved is actually a big advantage for us I think, we've struggled on smaller pitches and with more partisan home crowds this season, so it might take a massive pitch and empty ground at Deepdale to get us an away win.

Brunton park is a big pitch though, maybe bigger than deepdale.

By this logic though everyone would beat us, as there isn't a team who couldn't do with a win for one reason or another. I get the argument that when we lose to a team on terrible form like Newport, or Bristol Rovers' at the Mem we love to give teams the leg up they need, but a mid-table Notts County on average form seems like pushing it a bit.

It's not really the logic, it's more I have this feeling we'll lose. Everything is going too well at the moment.

If Carlisle treat this game as a home game, ie not get too excited at playing in a Championship ground, then they'll beat Notts County. They are nothing special, and I have my doubts on whether they are really underachieving.

Btw, kudos on the thread title Big Dave!

We've got the joint best home record in the league, we're clearly capable of being quite a good team.

I'm hoping the Notts County that turned up at Salford show up at Deepdale on Saturday. If they do then we'll win about 5-0.

But like I've said, I have this awful feeling about this match. Things are looking quite good on the pitch at the moment, so I'm expecting a calamity defeat pretty soon.

Eh? What the hell did his son have to do with his job?? :bl:

I think the first 20 minutes of this game could be vital.

If I looked at this game as if I were Curle and take into account this is not an actual home match, but a daunting period where we play at Neutral venues with smaller crowds and different surroundings I would be thinking to have my side attack like hell in that opening period, mostly to try and get a goal.....maybe 2 goals to settle any nerves or pressure and let the side and fans know the change isn't going to cause any problems.

So I expect us to go total 'gung-ho' in that first 20 minutes and try to kill Notts C off Early. If Notts defend well early on and things do not go our way, then maybe some doubts might creep in, or the quiet empty stadium may play its part.

overall I do think of all 24 L2 sides we'll cope best with having to play at Neutral venues, mostly because our gung-ho approach either home or away frankly makes where you play not too important, but of course you do usually gain a confidence by claiming to be at home and Curle's job will be to try and establish that confidence very early on in this game, Nott's approach will be to destroy that confidence before it develops.

Every club who get rid of him go down hill. Us, County and Torquay to name a few.

We are going decidedly uphill at the moment, something I am admittedly not used to. Not even sure if I like it or not at the moment. I think I do. Going into games as favourites is weird, we should really be beating County given the form we're in at the moment but it'll probably take a few more months of consistency for me to not expect a slip-up every game.

This is me. It's all been going to well over recent weeks. A slip up has to be round the corner, it's the Carlisle United way.

That's the sort of attitude a loser would have.

Whey Noble got sent off last night, so no need for us to worry about that hothead!

What a nutter eh.

Would liked to have given him a warm welcome, although the fact it isn't at BP takes some of the shine off that... however he'd almost certainly have scored a 30 yarder against us, so purely for our own interests, I'm relieved he won't be playing. Had he played then he would have probably kept his temper in check given I think he still holds us close to his heart, and would have played an absolute stormer.

I am looking forward to this now, its a unique, strange event and seeing how our team reacts to this could define our season......will they collapse or will they thrive.

I think had it been last season this could have destroyed our season, this year it may boost it, but it'll be interesting to see how many go down from Carlisle, if any go from Preston, will our team perform on the day etc, etc.

If we lose then it will all be thanks to your negative influence. :dis:

We have been doing well all season with just the odd blip here and there, it's not like last season where we'd win 2 games in a row giving us hope, only for us to go and lose the next five! LOL

The only match I had a bad feeling about was Bristol Rovers as we had a load of key players injured, as for every other match I have had faith in our team to get a result or at least be competitive!

I'm glad County will be without Noble for this game, sounds like he's been one of their more influential players this season.

As I said earlier in the week, I think there'll be a few goals. I recall Curle stating we'll approach the match like an away game, which has been successful in recent games.

Not sure what the attendance will be like, we'd sold out 13 coaches the other day, and Virgin are offering 500 free train tickets this afternoon.
I'd guess around 1900 with a few hundred fans.
