Raikkonen signs a new deal at Ferrari, bad move by them in my opinion. Could have easily got Bottas or Rosberg.

If Hamilton wins this season, I think he should leave Mercedes asap and join Ferrari in 2018. There's nothing more he can prove there but beating Vettel at Ferrari would be one final challenge. Plus no one has done titles with 3 separate teams, except maybe in the 50s. Would launch him into true greatness.

Would love to see Hamilton and Vettel in the same team. Two multiple world champions in the same team could be a problem though.

If he gets away cleanly can't see anyone catching him. Think the stewards will have a busy day with track limits issues if qualifying was anything to go by.

Haven't watched a race for quite a while now, and this is exactly the sort of reason why. Why the fuck are they starting behind the safety car?! It's not even that wet. Just let them race. It's like they want it to be a procession all the time. Any excitement or any real racing is discouraged

Honestly think it would be a great combination and I have no idea who would actually win between them both.

Verstappen is going to be a real star of the future.

Nothing seems to faze him even now.

Rosberg demoted down to 3rd - really going to love that!

Hard not to be impressed by Verstappen already has the measure of Ricciardo, who I rate. Only mistakes I can think were over the Monaco weekend. Only 18 fucking crazy.

If Renault can get their engine up to Mercedes standard then it could be very interesting between them all. Think Ferrari have been disappointing this season.

Yeah I thought Ferrari would be be a lot closer to the Mercedes, and Red Bull are breathing down their neck as well. New engine regulations next year so hopefully it will make it closer.

The disappointment for me are Williams, seem to be standing still.

If he can't beat Ricciardo or Raikkonen, I can't see him beating Hamilton.
If you don't think Vettel has wiped the floor comprehensively with Raikkonen then you're clearly on Planet Zog.

Points or championship position are largely irrelevant when you aren't challenging for a title and have already won it, it's about how you go about it. And Vettel has taken the piss out of Kimi.

I'll reserve judgement on Ricciardo as he looks decent and it struck me as being fairly even.

Kimi is ahead in the drivers standings isn't he?

Well done for ignoring the point of my post. Hank pretty much nails it in his. Kimi has been a joke at Ferrari and it's embarrassing they've given him another contract. Vettel is one of only a few drivers with the ability to take it to Mercedes.

Why are you being so aggressive?

If Hamilton was in the same team as Kimi, reliability issues or not, he'd still be streets ahead. Vettel is undoubtedly very good but only on Hamilton's level when he gets everything his own way.

Don't really see that. Vettel was dominant in a car that wasn't anywhere near as far ahead of the pack as Hamilton's Mercedes has been.

Not deliberately aggressive, apologies if that's how it came across. But when a poster quotes me, effectively disagrees with me but then states what I've actually stated as my main point of argument.... it can be annoying. :)

Vettel has driven superbly for Ferrari but is unfortunately hamstrung by a weak car which keeps breaking on him. Raikkonen is generally much slower than Vettel and seems to coast to half decent results, but never looks like challenging for wins. That's not how you become a champion.... the points accumulated by either driver is irrelevant when they're nowhere near the title.

I'd personnally put Hamilton above Vettel if they were in the same team, would love to see them in the same team to prove it but it wont happen.

Ferrari are only going one way and can see Mclaren being above them next season.

Crap race though, thankfully Hamilton got the pass done at the start as he would have comfortably have been on poll if it wasn't for Alonso spinning.

Wasn't the greatest race. Hamilton seemed to have everything pretty much under control after going ahead. Only highlight was Raikkonen playing peek a boo with Verstappen.

Also the rules about radio messages need amending. I'm all for drivers not being coached how to drive but when the car has a fault it seems daft not to tell the driver how to fix it.

Hamilton looking the more likely now. I imagine he will take his penalties at Spa with the amount of overtaking that can be done around there. Looks like he will do a double engine change also to last him till the end of the season.

Vettel must be getting tired of the Ferrari not performing, looks dismal to say the best. Should Mercedes stay up there near the top could we see Vettel there in 2018/2019? Maybe even McLaren to replace Alonso in 2018?

Hamilton will take his penalty this weekend, could be a good one watching him get back up the grid.
