Remember he's just spent the past few years in India, most thought he was managing football clubs, turns out he was on a bohemian bender in Goa 'finding himself.'
I know a Goan and they all take the micky out of the hippies as much as we do...Still take the cash though.

Is there basically no way of getting him out and getting someone in who can help the club or does he basically hold all the cards so to speak so no one can do much to affect his power ?

His asking price is ridiculous. I see him as the new Kassam. I think he wants to sell and he will sell, but only with a new stadium and only if he keeps control of the finances of the new stadium. If we get him out and we have a new stadium we're just another Oxford, held to ransom by our previous owner all the while looking to move out of our new stadium.

I know of one consortium, who around 4-5 years ago, met him with a view to buying him out/owning a large amount of shares. They went saying Ron could keep all the land to Fossetts Farm (that includes the current training ground) and also Roots Hall, they'd rent the stadium from him. His asking price for selling was £20M and he wanted similar stupid amounts for a large shareholding.

Our only hope of getting rid I think is hoping the new stadium continues to be held up and is eventually mothballed. The only thing in this for Ron is all the money he makes from housing on Roots Hall and at the new stadium site, if he can't get that he has nothing.
If he still wanted to be stubborn maybe someone could go to him, try and buy for £1 and take on the debt (85% or so is owed to him).
Loads of our fans seem to think he's the only option, that's just bullshit, there are plenty of people out there willing to take on the club, most of them local businessmen. But Ron's unrealistic price and alienation of people and businesses all around Southend is keeping them at bay.

I thought Roots Hall was already promised to Sainsbury’s or has that fallen by the wayside over the years? Also do you have any idea of what level of debt the club is in?

Basically seems to have control over everyone including fans and making the demands that people won’t agree with.

New stadium is probably going to be less and less likely if you keep going down.

Sainsbury's pulled out a long time ago.
~15 mil I think all to Ron's other companies much like Colchester owing Robbie Cowling's other companies 35mil or whatever silly figure it is.
Ron knows the only way he sees this money is through the new stadium with the residential aspect side of it because as KM says no-one is going to buy him out at the price he values the club now with Roots Hall having planning for housing.

I would agree but there are going to be a lot of new houses being built if it goes through for a council behind on it's quota for a good few years now.

Did Ron pay Sainsbury’s the money back do you know?

Now this is where the tangled web that has been weaved becomes mysterious. About 18 months ago Ron or someone wiped off half of the clubs debt. They paid all outstanding bank loans, they paid the Sainsbury's loan (remember they bailed us out back in 2010, paying off the £2M HMRC debt, it was initially a downpayment for Roots Hall but when they pulled out it became a loan) they paid off football creditors and most other non-football creditors. No figure was ever given but it's over £10M wiped off the clubs debt. Still at last accounts the club has no bank debt, no loans owed to anyone.
Then suddenly after all this debt has been paid just a couple of months later we're suddenly back in the shit with HMRC owing £200k or so.
The embargo we had was almost a year long, come the court case for the near £500k HMRC debt who pays that off, not Ron, some Sports Agency no one has ever heard of.

We seem to have so many saviours, so many fingers in the pie I really wonder what happens if and when a new stadium gets built because with the web Ron has managed to build I cannot for the life of me see how any of it benefits Southend United Football Club.

Oddly I think the further we sink the more viable, for Ron, a new stadium becomes. The plans have been changed so often since the very first Fossetts Farm unveil no one can keep up.
It started as a, too big for us, all singing all dancing, hotel, cinema, shops galore stadium complex costing tens of millions Ron couldn't sucker anyone out of and has become a 3 sided soul sucker in the middle of a load of houses costing far less.
The council are thrilled, all that retail taking away from the dying high street gone, all these new houses in two locations in Southend for a bunch of cronies way behind on quotas and who last cared about it's sporting clubs in about 1965.
The further we sink the more can be taken out of it, it'll cost Ron even less. His latest mantra is how he'll keep investing, ermmm sorry Ron you haven't invested much of anything for 3 years now. Maybe this is a ploy to hit the National South and have a 2 sided stadium.

Interesting, we were ourselves in a lot of debt, circa £13m off the top of my head, which seemingly disappeared over night a couple of seasons ago (when we didn’t own our ground, but that was transferred back to the club apparently) at the same time.

Nothing shows up in our clubs accounts of where that debt went, and more importantly to who. We have also had people trying to buy the club but being greeted with an inexcusably high valuation.

And yes Scally says the only way forward for the club is a new stadium within a major housing, sports and retail complex.

I’m guessing Uncle Paul and Uncle Ron might be friends, but my fear is that we’re probably only a few years off where you find yourselves now.

I'm surprised Scally hasn't got on the back of all the major redevelopment of that marsh land between Medway and Gravesend, most of which is owned by the shady guy who owns Ebbsfleet. Tons of room for a new stadium there.
I'd equate your current time to Phil Brown mark I for us, so you're maybe 5 years behind, Evans likes a nice sized budget but where the hell is Scally getting it from.
Most of our current predicament can be traced back to Phil Brown and Ron's pandering to him which makes it all the more ironic PB is back!
If Gillingham find themselves in league 2 in five years or so and Steve Evans is re-hired I'm lumping on relegation.

It Colchester lose tonight then Tuesday’s game is the very definition of six pointer isn’t it?

Well we gave ourselves a bit of hope today only for Colchester to snatch it away again.

Now we have to hope for a Southend win on Tuesday otherwise it's all but over. 1 loss in 10 games, but its the 7 draws and missed opportunities in those games that will send us down unfortunately

I hope I'm wrong but it all points to payback for 1990, we went to Layer Road, won 2-0 and effectively relegated Colchester to the non-league.
We're going down, that's not up for debate, it'd just be nice if they weren't the ones to send us packing.

I am still hoping for a biblical miracle and both the Essex clubs going down together, 5 games to go, 15 points to play for.

We can still overtake Oldham, Mansfield, Walsall, The sCUNTS, Barrow, Colchester and Southend. Tuesday's games may well change all that, but both Southend and Colchester will still be 'catchable' no matter the results!

I think for us to go down more than likely we would have to lose all our remaining games. Ideally I would've liked Southend and Colchester to be the two to go down for locality reasons but for the latter to get relegated it would have to mean Grimsby catching up to us and I don't think my nerves could take that.

Tuesday game is massive. Colchester’s last three games on paper are very hard no that it means anything when you have Grimsby turning over Bolton

Well, the good news is that they can’t actually relegate you. The bad news is that we will instead.

We effectively can if Scunthorpe and Barrow get results on Tuesday due to goal difference.

Well yes, it’ll be all over bar the shouting but we’re the ones with the opportunity to put that delicious big ‘R’ next to their name.

Having said that, I won’t be too upset if they do win on Tuesday. Hopefully they’ll drag you down with them like Gandalf and the Balrog.

Not really bothered if it's Orient, Barrow or Newport tbh, just fingers crossed Colchester aren't the ones to put the nail in the coffin.
But with this great news of the euro league hopefully starting next season and 6 clubs chucked out suddenly there are spaces to fill.
Who would have thought Grimsby and Southend could be so grateful to the powerhouses of European football.

This Euro League idea is a disgrace and if it happens then I think Man U, Man City, Liverpool, Colchester, Arsenal, Chelsea, Southend and Spurs should all be deducted points for it.

Ron was horrified when we weren't named in the line up for this new league, as he pointed out we've won more trophies than Tottenham in the last 30 years.

some of you may know of a certain Lord Football, well Copa90 asked Southend fans for some info to do a film with a fan about the neglect and subsequent plummet we have suffered over the past few years, this is the result and certainly sums up my feelings and I'd say the feelings of all Southend fans currently.
Just seen this. Interesting video from the disgraced TFF admin. Wonder if he demanded gratitude and praise from the director/film crew for doing that and followed it up with a monumental tantrum?

Well, the previous 20-25 games are also a huge factor. The side we've got now playing as they are now, wouldn't have gone down I don't think.
