Absolutely shite. Both teams were.

That was a game where whoever got the first goal should have seen it out easily, as not much at all was happening in the game. To get 1-0 and then commit such a brain fart of an error is appalling.

Piss poor. Pissed off with the constant disappointment from this club.
Disappointed for sure. Getting back into the promotion chase was always going to be a reach. Needing pretty much to win every game means it's going to be a disappointing month, even if we are showing a few more positive signs after February. Like you say, after taking the lead it was frustrating not to see it out, I guess at least we're not getting beat any more.

Thought Norman did very well up until the last twenty or so, when he came way out of his goal a couple of times but failed to claim the ball. Left an open goal in one occasion too, can't remember if that was a different incident. Before that he'd made a really good save and seemed to be claiming corners well.

Zanzala looks bang up for it now after a shaky start and hopefully he'll keep this scoring run up throughout the run in.

My main criticism of Chris Beech in this and a few other recent games is he keeps just making like for like substitutions that don't really change a huge amount. Didn't make any till really late in this game too. With our fitness issues and fixture congestion, We're gonna have to make more changes in matches and I thought we'd be taking full advantage of the five subs rule.

it was a corker wasn't it.... not sure if Tozer our our guy scored the 1st, but the spin on the ball made both Tozer and the keeper look Sunday League....
To be fair to Tozer - that's his worst game in some time. The problem is that when he has a bad game we're fucked in defence because his regular team of Boyle and Raglan are injured. Freestone is ok, but raw and Sean Long is a wing-back. On Saturday, Tozer was imperious, both playing his own game and talking Freestone through when he hit a dodgy patch at the start of the second half - we ended up winning 1-0.

Griffiths is so frustrating though. There's no doubt he's a great shot-stopper, but for such a big lad he doesn't command his area at all. He's also made so many mistakes. What grates even more is that we know he's only being played because the agreement with WBA demands it - there's no way he should be playing ahead of Scott Flinders. Fortunately, his call up to the u21s means he won't be playing away at Morecambe.

I thought on first instance it was a foul on the keeper then the foul after looked soft also, but it’s hard to gauge in our league when there’s not 47 different camera angles.

I think a lot of sides of just muddling through and it’s just a case of luck on those who muddle through well enough. for me the aim is to plod along to (presumably) low 50s and go again next season.

The 7th/8th august when fans allowed back in (hopefully) is set in my diary really for when i consider football to be back.

We complained a bit to the referee at the time though there's not much point complaining to Trevor Kettle. I guess the nicest thing you can say about him is that he's not one of those referees where players can get in his head, he's consistently crap and at times mystifying. He probably got more touches of the ball than any of our late subs did. We've not been conceding so many penalties the last few games but free kicks just outside the box are still common and we still commonly concede from them.

It's going to be frustrating for us as a lot of the teams we're playing now are happy muddling through, while until we give up on promotion altogether (which might not be long), draws just aren't enough. We did better against Bradford who had an incentive to bring the game to us a bit.

Hard to believe our keeper's been called up to the U21s based on that second goal (and numerous other mistakes he's made this season)!
Jesus both those goals are amazing to be fair!

I’m not sure how you didn’t score though, had so many good chances. Nothing like our games where we’ve failed to score and not looked close to scoring. It was bad luck rather than anything else last night.

In fairness I think for the first he's dummied by Ben Tozer's air clearance. Second is hilariously bad though.

Two wins in 11 for Mansfield now, if we had a decent striker I reckon last night game was the sort of one we may have nabbed.

To be fair our three best players didn’t play, but none of them are strikers!

Billy the fish has been England Goalkeeper from u15 right up to u19
Not ready for league football......And Some in High management jobs think Pickford is a good goalkeeper
When every joey in the street know Pope is head and shoulders better than him.
Agree on Pickford. Pope, Dean Henderson and even probably Sam Johnstone ahead of him for me. Pope has to be England number one in the summer for me

If there is room on Tranmere’s team bus, I think we should bring Stefan Payne back to Prenton park after tonight’s game. Think we would of kept him had we of Known Morgan Ferrier was about to spit his dummy out.

I agree completely, still a bloody awful goal to concede.

I’m struggling to find the same level of amusement at those Barrow goals as a lot of you have done.

When you score two similar goals against Tranmere tonight, I'm sure you'll get over it.:)

To be fair when we won at Cheltenham earlier in the season we had some massive chunks of luck too, at 0-0 Waterfall handballed on the line and it wasn’t given and then at 1-1 their keeper spilled a 30 yarder into the net that was straight at him.

Strangely enough, I think you are right. He is not great but would have been able to do a job as a target man in Vaughan's absence, with much better players around him.

Another couple of injuries and a couple of points dropped will go some way to making up for a crap day on the horses.
We got very tired second half against Vale Saturday, a break in midweek games came at the right time.

Not for me. Leave him on the East Coast.

Tonight absolutely reeks of us putting in a good performance and causing mass false hope before hurtling back down to earth on Saturday

Question raised on the FGR forum where someone asked about George Williams, now at Grimsby.
He seems to have fallen off the radar.
During his time with FGR George was adored but suffered a horrific injury minutes into first game of last season.
When fit the team had moved on and he never regained his place and was sold.

Neither of our usual right-backs available tonight, so Macdonald switched to the right, which hasn't always worked. I'm never confident about Rovers...

I think Williams showed flashes of being decent but he’s gone missing far too often. A lot of our fans really dislike him and so does hurst. You’ve never seen a better example of an injury crushing somebody’s confidence though, he shys out of every challenge.

In fact Ridehalgh, another left-back on our right.
