Every team gets poor decisions against them, we just seem to be on a real run of them at the moment. I can't recall the last time we had a half competent referee. I'm amazed that Clarke didn't lamp him one, he looked seething.
Singh was very good as is Rebecca Walsh.

Problem is too many think its about them!

Aye, she did well in our game.

Birmingham fans will disagree as they lost.

Can anybody tell me how the referee's performance was in the Port Vale vs Accrington Stanley game last night, please?
You'll find out Tuesday against Exeter... You have the pleasure of Mr Speedie!

She's really good, lets it flow, wasn't wanting the limelight, I note she has only sent 3 players off in 4 and a half seasons of refereeing professionally. We had her first EFL game and she was superb and again this season. Many could learn from her performances.

Dare I say it, but I feel players are also reluctant to dish out the same abuse they give to male refs too which has to help.

Possibly but then its up to Male referee's to be stronger on it (yellow cards etc)

Thing is, we all like referees that give decisions to our team. And if they do not, they are shit.
It is hard to be truly objective.
I do go to Walsall games from time to time with my mate, and there as I am neutral I can see it for what it is, and you do get some absolute dreadful decisions but most are equally bad for
Both teams. The home fans are seething but from what I can see the ref got it right - I suppose we are all guilty of that.

Although I admit some games I’ve been to it doesn’t feel that way. I remember Leeds away in the championship, we got fuck all from the ref all night, literally nothing, even players assaulted, yet after the game Leeds fans were saying how bad he was for them. So that says it all.

Rebecca Walsh was probably the last decent ref we have had. trouble is, that was on 11/09/2021 (and we lost!)

The £80 match fee was taken from this recent article

And unless it's written badly, I think the OP was right. It does seem a staggeringly low amount of money. It's not entirely clear if referees at league 1 and league 2 level receive a 'salary' but the way that article is written suggests they don't, although some referees appear in all of the leagues so maybe the salary is paid to all?
From what I was reading a year ago somewhere, League 1 refs and below aren’t actually professional in the sense that they all have other jobs. The match fee is just an extra.

Why would there be a conspiracy to stop the mighty Port Vale from winning matches?
There isn't one, however you can't help but feel that subconsciously he didn't want to be as generous to us as he was when we played them last year in the fa Cup and won 5-1. Coleman was really critical of him that day and probably submitted a report....the ref probably didn't want another stinking report but this time he'll get it off us.

Refereeing isn't easy but at least give yourself some thinking time to give you the best opportunity of getting decisions right. Although people would say that we still should have won (they're right) he's still cost us 2 points, which might be vital at the end of the season.

When we've felt hard done to by a ref they've tended to be even bigger c*** the following time we have them.

Not a conspiracy.

Just coincidental how he's registered to the Liverpool FA and is a racist and an appalling excuse for an official.

And they did .

Called her the worse ref ever and out of her depth .

That is probably why the powers that be just see any criticism as sour grapes from fans .

Obviously that isn`t the case but it did really feel that the ref on Tuesday was biased, the ref we had on Saturday was just incompetent.
The situation with Mr Speedie on Tuesday was that he was a late replacement and was due to be the 4th official. We had him last year against Stanley in the cup, when he sent off their forward on the advice of his liner for a silly off the ball assault. He was criticised heavily by fellow scouser Coleman on that occasion and I wonder if that got to him. He was appalling.

A good example was their penalty… two identical incidents in the opposite box were not given, he gave us two yellows first half which were correct but failed to book them for stopping a break away which is a straight forward as you will see.

That’s on top of the goal/penalty which has made great debate on social media nationally.

Every single 50-50 decision was a Stanley free kick.

Ultimately we should of won that regardless but doesn’t change the fact the referee was arguably the worst I’ve seen.

The guy on our POD who is a qualified referee and is usually pretty balanced on “ref watch” stated he was the worst he had seen and that includes Sunday League! Did chuckle at the “felt like I’d turned up on the wrong night and it was actually Valentines Day because we got F***** for 90 minutes!”

I still have irrational hatred for some refs

Paul Alcock obviously
Mike Reed (saw him award a pen for handball outside the box and being shite)
Tim Robinson (gave Forestieri a 2nd yellow at Hull for simulation, Michael Dawson was holding his hands up expecting to get a red himself and even after said he'd fouled him)
Jarrod Gillett
Neil Swarbrick one of the most obvious biased officiating I've seen, home to Villa, he gave us 1 foul all game...

Paul Alcock - there is a blast from the past. Legs like jelly.
What people forget about that day ( massively overshadowed) was the amazing goal scored to win it.

Di Canio would probably get banned for much longer if he did that now but certainly the ref wasn't the most steady on his feet!
