Tuesday 7 Feb

  • Port Vale v Accrington Stanley

Saturday 11 Feb

  • Barnsley v Cambridge United
  • Burton Albion v Exeter City
  • Charlton Athletic v Fleetwood Town
  • Cheltenham Town v Accrington Stanley
  • Ipswich Town v Sheffield Wednesday
  • Lincoln City v Bristol Rovers
  • Milton Keynes Dons v Oxford United
  • Morecambe v Forest Green Rovers
  • Peterborough United v Bolton Wanderers
  • Plymouth Argyle v Portsmouth
  • Shrewsbury Town v Port Vale
  • Wycombe Wanderers v Derby County

sexy fixtures of the week:
massive relegation six-pointers for Chelts v Accy and Morecambe v FGR
promotion (or at least playoff) six pointers for Ipswich v Sheff Wed, Posh v Bolton and us v Derby.

We were well beaten by Derby last time at theirs, they were shite early doors but pulled it back well for the win - but that was under Rosenior.

Paul Warne's Rotherham sides were always hard to play against, well-drilled, defensively solid and physical, and given that Derby can afford a better class of player than Rotherham could, I'm expecting a tough game.

Also, we are down to the bare bones defensively right now with 3 centre backs crocked.

So a point would be a great result right now, but we'll see.

I’m hoping that the last two games signify a return to the Cambridge United performances of 21/22. I mean we did get stuffed by Sheffield Wednesday, Lincoln and MK Dons last season (among others) but we put in some Stella performances away from home at times (wins at Wigan, Ipswich and Portsmouth among others). Yesterday hinted at a return to the siege mentality that served us so well last term.

That all said, I’d take a draw at Barnsley obviously as they are hunting the final play off spot. We struggled at home against them earlier in the season but I’ve a sneaky suspicion we might spring a surprise on Saturday. We’re vastly improved on a month ago.

Accrington is a big game and a win would settle the nerves, looks like the strikers are back for Saturday so maybe one more game to cope without a senior striker although Proctor did get through 35 minutes yesterday.

Calmed down a bit from the anger of yesterday and although we’ve lost 4 in 6 it’s worth noting one was to the leaders, two were against sides in the Championship last season and the other the play off finalists so it’s been a wretched run which are out the way now and with no strikers available it was always a huge ask.

Run of more winnable games starting here, Accrington are in poor form too and seem to have a defensive injury crisis, for all the doom and gloom a win here and we are back in the top 10.

Praying we can get the win and then we head to Shrewsbury, sell out away end with Taylor and possibly Harrison back and everyone is feeling more upbeat.

What's happened to Stroud?

Anyway, long week ahead, who knows what frame of mind we will be in for Burton. Will we have worked out what side to play? Will Key be back? Will Brown have served his time off??Hopefully an improvement on the home tie and three points to keep us in that all important mid table melee.

It might be the wrong time for you to play us. We seem to finally be getting out shit together. Mind you, we still have a habit of gifting goals at the back so you have a chance.
I actually think for the first time this season we might win a game.
3-2 us.

Us v Morecambe counts as a six-pointer. Given the number of goals (for and against) in their recent games, maybe a six-goaler too.

Given our form (and with Shrimps mostly having been on the up recently on the pitch), it'd be foolish to be anything but pessimistic about our prospects, but maybe the new manager bounce (and his assertion - great to hear it stated aloud - that our players should maybe try being more aggressive) will kick in for us at some point. No chance of it being against Ipswich the following Sat....

Moving on and being serious for once .

I reckon wednesday have this wrapped up and it's for Plymouth to lose ... if Plymouth do slip up , we will be waiting. Otherwise we are play offs bound as I see it.

Accy had a similarly disappointing afternoon to us so both teams will no doubt be eager to put things right in this one. The last couple of weeks just on social media and our forum have shown there is a decent percentage of bedwetters among our support who start looking for things at the first sign of adversity. If for no other reason than shutting these up winning this would be useful.

One thing I did notice from Sir Gareth after Saturdays game he said he knew we would gamble by throwing players forward and were able to pick us off so maybe until we have the likes of Wilson, Taylor and Harrison back in the team might want to reign it in. Not really the DC way but maybe just setting out for 0-0 then try and hit them on the break could be the way to go for the next couple of games.

We'll probably lose this and then go and win 3-0 at Ipswich, would be typical.

To be fair how Hanlan managed to score that on the break when DJ actually got back goal side was criminal from us! Stand him up and push him wide, Sunday league stuff really, but DJ committed and swung a leg.

Think Accrington are as bare bones as us just defensively, had one sent off and a couple stretchered off I believe at the weekend so its critical we actually start taking chances.

Another big game for us down at Portman Road, you'd feel a Wednesday win would put Ipswich in real bother in terms of the autos, it would put us 9 clear with a game in hand but Wednesday never make things that straight forward.

Our unbeaten run has to pop at some point too.

Win that your probably up.

Ipswich seem to have hit a sticky patch which considering their outlay in January is a surprise.

Yeah doesn't look good. Didn't something similar happen that was videoed with their players earlier in the season?

Not sure. Some interesting but worrying stuff here about the current case though, particularly the tweet from the victims sister...

Crickey, doesn't read well, have to caution nothing proven at this point but if charged the case needs answering, assume there is CCTV so if proven he is in deep trouble, complete idiot if so (putting it politely), he is having the season of his career and that would be a huge huge loss for Exeter.

Yes if true a lot of clubs wont touch him in the summer, or at least he wont see the same type of contracts being offered to him. Quality player, but a silly boy to get involved in off the field stuff like this

There's not many games we have at this level that have a genuine bit of needle, but Wycombe is certainly one game and it comes at a good time for us. No doubt it will be a difficult game, but Wycombe have lost more at home than we have away. They've also won more at home than we have away. If I was a betting man, I'd probably say a draw is the likely result.

A full week before the game definitely helps given the age (and depth) of our squad. Bird not being fit is going to be a big miss, not sure if we go 4-4-2 like we did against Morecambe either which means White likely comes into the team for a debut.

Not sure about this one. Not convinced we’ve sorted how everybody fits in. Would definitely take a draw. Normally a hopeless optimist as well

I'm interested in how they get on against Vale, but our game against Accrington on Saturday is huge for us. We simply have to get a win on the board and keep a gap between ourselves and the bottom 4.

It also needs a decent performance as well, or the natives will be on Wade Elliott's back again.

Can’t see him playing for us again this season, or possibly ever

Clearly very talented but trouble has always followed this guy. He was let go by Peterborough due to partying and boozing. We picked him up from non-league. We played his non league team in a friendly and he was clearly the best player on the pitch.

Fans either loved him or hated him here due to his poor attitude when the going got tough. Rumours he was a bad egg in the dressing room so when Colchester offered us 250k we couldn't wait to get rid.

The news that's come out this week hasn't surprised me one bit.

Coleman looked like he'd had enough post-match on Saturday - no needle to him at all that you usually get. After Saturday's game, I think he said they were now without 6 CB's. Doesn't seem to happy camp there at the minute, even the Accrington lot are wondering whether it's time for a change and you wouldn't expect that from them so things must be bad.

One bonus is he probably doesn't need any centre halves tonight as we have no strikers!

Although we might start Proctor for the first time in 6 months but he isn't anywhere near up to speed yet.

Hoping Taylor being ready for Saturday was just DC being coy and he is available, would be a huge boost, tonight is a really big game for us to stop the rot.

Apparently we were offering Exeter £300k to £350k which seems reasonable considering he's out of contract in the summer. Exeter wanted £500k. I'm thinking they wish they'd taken the offer now as he's unlikely to feature again this season and will most likely be off the books for nothing in the summer.

The really frustrating thing is that prior to this incident, he was seemingly one of the most well liked players in the squad and was showing a real maturity towards the fanbase. I really thought he’d grown up and that was the main reason he was starting to realise his full potential.

It’s such a shame he’s now seemingly ruined his legacy and any chance of a ‘big’ move for him in the summer. I guess we won’t know the complete fallout until the legal stuff is concluded, but it’s not looking too good.
