Just back from Welling, pinched a win that should have been comfortable. Welling on the other hand, are going down. Which is a shame, as Welling is a good day out, nice little club, several very good pubs (hence taking 5 1/2 hours to do a 2 hour trip) and very amenable supporters. But by God, their team is shite. Offered absolutely nothing going forward and hopeless at the back, we should have had 5 or 6 but for their keeper having a worldie.

I believe Cheshire's finest have restricted the crowd to 3,500.

Back in the 1960's this game attracted crowds of 16 or 17,000.

Is Cheshire a police state now? Given your capacity is 1.8K more than that a ridiculous decision to the financial detriment of both clubs.

Strange if that was the Woking side going for the FA Trophy. The team they played in midweek gave us a better game. We were fairly poor today but Woking were awful.

Having seen the footage of the Guiseley goal, I'd agree that it doesn't do them any credit. The ball wasn't aimed anywhere near the Braintree keeper,if you're trying to prevent time-wasting as claimed, surely rolling the ball gently towards the keeper is best? The Guiseley no 16, trying to goad the Braintree players should have been sanctioned for his antics too.

Can't comment on how they played today, but at Tranmere, Braintree concentrated on playing football and little by way of time-wasting. I hardly noticed their keeper. Dover and Beastleigh had a far more cynical approach and the latter's keeper, Flitney was one of the biggest bellends in terms of his winding up of the home support.

King's only just gone on loan to Braintree. Millwall keeper that's been on loan at Welling earlier in the season.

Just got back from Guiseley and l amstill fuming. The most contentious goal you will ever see. Judge for yourselves when the BT highlights are shown. Just read Guiseley Steves ramblings, what a load of brown stuff. He forgot to say that their bench said shoot when a pass back to our keeper was the proper thing to do. The ref then asked their bench if they would allow us to walk the ball into the goal from the re-start and they said no way.

Guiseley are a disgrace, Norburn new what he was doing. At the end of the season that goal could make the difference in Braintree not making the play offs and keeping Guiseley up.

Having listened to the Guiseley manager discussing this, there's no way he told them to shoot! Don't know where you've conjured that "brown stuff" up from. He clearly saw the incident in real time as one where the keeper was "trying to be clever" by letting the ball go in - with the benefit of a replay from a totally different angle to the manager's, we can tell that that wasn't the case. He's adamant that the keeper caused this mess, and doesn't sound like he's using it as an excuse. If I thought the opposition keeper was acting like a tit, I'd have made the same decision.

You've lost 2-0 to 3rd in the league? Or am I missing something here?

Standard Woking fan overreaction to defeat, unfortunately. Not enough realise that had the board not decided to change the bonuses this might not have happened. Oh, and while we're at it, it'd have been good if they had come up with a plan over the last five years that didn't involve relying on others and fans to pump money in. "Give us more money and we'll make more debt". Cheers. Buckets will be out again soon.

I can't see how the Braintree keeper could reach that ball. Besides, why didn't the Guiseley player hit it to the side of the goal to prevent any mishaps?

No way of telling from that angle, but the 'keeper reacts very late to the flight of the ball. Looks as though he could have made an effort to get back quicker.

That said, the obvious thing to do was give Braintree a goal.

Braintree also got away with a stonewall foul against us in the box on Wednesday, so what goes around comes around. #notarsed

To be fair, it wouldn't be the first time that the buckets had been out at a club that Garry Hill had been managing, would it? Maybe the moral of this story is not to spend your entire budget at the beginning of the season and then leave yourself with nothing when things go wrong.

Just a thought.

Just really surprised me after Garry Hill's comments that The Trophy was your priority this season (which in itself seems a strange thing to say with you only being 6 points off the play-offs), I was expecting a far harder game yesterday but in all honesty the team on Tuesday caused us more problems and it was a pretty routine win for us yesterday without really getting out of 2nd gear.

We were awful. There was a massive ironic cheer when we had our (weak) first shot on target with 10 minutes to go. Shambolic at the back (missed Luke Foster massively), slow in midfield, and lacking any bite up front. Our next 3 games are away to Dover, home to Halifax, and away to Grimsby - I'll be surprised if we get any more than a point from that run.

Similar thing happened Bromley v AFC Wimbledon in Conference South 2008/09
7.50 in.

Ryan Hall attempted the same thing when playing for Southend against us in League 2 a few years back.

In that game there must have been some bad blood beforehand - usually you don't see the player volleying the ball back to a goalkeeper for example.

If anything to waste time for example they kick it off the pitch miles away from the keeper...

No 'bad blood' as such. We didn't like each other, but nothing untoward.

Regardless of people's opinions on Danny Cowley and Braintree Town, that is incredibly bad sportsmanship from Guiseley and the footage of the goal is going to put the club in a bad light.

Yes, the keeper does take too long to react the lob but it's poor etiquette, kick it somewhere where he's not having to chase the ball down.

There's no way the Wombles keeper could have saved that!

Had a high regard for Guiseley until I saw that and how they reacted. Bad sportsmanship and it will come home to roost sooner or later.

Love the commentary, "I just want to make it clear, Norburn didn't shoot, there was no pace on that ball, he didn't fire it towards the goal............ it was a lazy ball back to the goalkeeper". In the pre video days, that radio commentary would have been taken at face value. Thanks to the video we know that the club commentators are lying through their teeth. A more honest commentary would have been "I'm going to lie here, I'm not going to tell you that our player took the piss and blasted the ball over the keeper's head because, I mean like, that would be cheating wouldn't it". :ffs:

Guiseley players are a disgrace, what's the point in playing the game that way. I agree with BTF, blatant shot at goal. Braintree have every right to be pissed off

What a bunch of cheats. I can't believe the game just continued normally, imagine that happening in the Premier League.

The key for me is that the game is clearly dead after the throw-in is taken - nobody's moving, nobody's challenging, everyone is just waiting for the ball to be given back to Braintree. Instead, the wanker with the ball at his feet looks up, sees the keeper on the edge of his area waiting for the ball to be rolled back, and he decides to drill it way over his head. And when he manages the not-that-hard-really feat of hitting the ball into an unguarded net, he celebrates - although even some of his teammates have the grace to look embarrassed. Okay, the guy's a tosser. Easy enough to sort out though, just let Braintree run the ball into an empty net. Instead, the Guiseley manager decides that he's as big a wanker as the guy who's just "scored" and says no, we're having that. As I said before, shameful.
