who you gonna bring in to replace ajose when he goes m8, got a feeling u might get andy Williams back

Williams is overpaid and too old. I guess should we sell Ajose, we would punt on goals from non-league. We'll see

You probably also own a Swansea/Oxford FA Cup half and half scarf mate. If that's what makes you happy then carry on.

Because great days out watching your team win derbies aren't of any interest to proper fans like yourself?

One of my favourite derby memories is of Mark Walters kicking Joey Beauchamp in the head.

And that FA Cup tie at your place when a couple proposed at half time on the pitch being serenaded with 'Does she take it up the arse?' belted out by us.

The result - not so much

There are a couple of reasons I think Roofe might stay with us.
1) He still has 2 years of his contract as he stated when asked by BBC Oxford if he was going.
2) He has already been at a larger club and not made an impact so this may put off a few teams.
3) We are not in a position where we need to sell him particularly if we sell O'Dowda instead and therefore we would value him higher than a club would be willing to purchase him for.

The one reason to sell him is if he struggles in L1 his present value would diminish. Difficult for small clubs to turn down decent money.

God knows. Obika will probably go too which would be a bigger loss IMO.

No way Williams will be back. Any decent young strikers in L2 we could plunder?
Agard? Out of the picture at the Gate and decent at this level.

He might stay Robie but be prepared for Championship clubs to come calling. WTGR, there aren't many at that level that would baulk at paying over £1M for him, maybe even £2M. If you keep hold of him, well done Oxford.

I'd be very disappointed £1m got us talking, given the rumoured sell on clause.

That's nearly always a bad indication when they don't answer no to that question.

Age? Wages? Power wont sign anyone if he doesn't think there is a chance of selling him on later for a profit. That is why he will never, ever sign an experienced pro to help the youngsters.

Plus I reckon Luke Williams can only handle the younger players. Some gnarled old pro would chew him up and spit him out.

And Burton's was £2.5m. Makes you wonder.

Not sure of the relevance of this post to my half and half Swansea FA Cup match scarf memorabilia question but......

To answer your question.

1. I am far from a 'proper' fan, Despite having a season ticket for the last 2 years I have lived outside of England a lot of my life and so haven't been to as many matches as you would expect from a 'proper' fan.

2. I have never been to a Derby game in my life, which isn't really any skin off my nose.

3. I stand by my previous statements that losing however many recent matches in a row to you bothers me not, HOWEVER, this season we are on a level playing field for the first time in a long time, I think this season is going to start to matter.

And Burton's was £2.5m. Makes you wonder.

Lee Power said on the radio the other night that the Port Vale Chairman puts in 2-3 million of his own money each year, whilst the Colchester chairman put in 2 million of his own money and they got relegated. It does make you wonder how many chairman up and down the lower leagues do this, and if they pull the plug, how many clubs are going to be fooked.

I think our budget is one of the lowest in the league so its going to be tricky for us to compete next season, especially if Ajose goes.

Would be a top notch signing but our budget is 1.5 million a year and I really can't see Agard fitting in that budget sadly.
Aaah, forget that then. He's probably on £5K a week at a guess. I can't see that happening then unless it was as a P/Ex job with us paying his contract up.

Out of interest, do you know what your budget is in the Championship? The difference I imagine between leagues is cavernous and I do worry for Burton, although Leicester's success this season may have blown the budget/money 'myth' out of the water a bit.

No idea AS but I would hazard a guess at £10M. That figure will shoot up now that the new facilities are online and pushing our turnover up. We were one of the lowest budgets in the Championship. It's a very cash rich division TBH.

I listened to some of the phone in out of interest, I thought Power spoke very well about the running of the club and where the money goes until he said he wasn't willing to make a loss and put money into the club like those chairmans do for a bigger playing budget. He sounds very much like a businessman, not someone that's really interested in Swindon Town's future prospects.

You say that, but we still tried to chuck £6m at Gayle and £9m at Gray - no idea what to expect this summer spending-wise.

Can't really argue with that JJH. He did say that he isn't a fan of the club and runs it as a business. We should be 'thankful' that he runs the club at break even and managed to get the previous crooks out. I think he wants to do a Peterborough and sign 'gems' from non-league to improve with our good coaches and then sell on for big profits. He certainly seems to have contacts in the footballing fraternity.

Roofe won't go for less than £2m.

He's got two years left, we're not desperate for the money and he's not in any rush to go. Think West Brom burnt him and he just wants to play.

Ambition of the club is to go up again and Appleton will have a top half budget minimum. We'll only sell players if it gives us a better chance of going up, and at £1m the risk of the sale undermining our chances would be too great. Ajose at Swindon is a completely different situation.

Not sure why we're trying to add context to the derby games. They're stand alone fixtures that don't need it. I couldn't tell you where we finished let alone Swindon the year Jefferson Louis won us that cup game on TV. I couldn't tell you what impact it had on our respective league seasons. I can tell you that it's those stand out days that we go to football for and I personally can't wait for two more next season.

I think you misunderstood my post wtgr. £2M wouldn't bother us or most in the Championship so prepare to possibly lose him.
If you withstand any bids, fair play to Oxford.

Sorry Ciderup, it was Indian Dan's comment I wanted to respond to. Should have quoted it. I dont think £2m/£2.5m should scare off any Championship clubs. He'd be a great signing for a club like Bristol City.

If he goes for £2m I'll show my arse at the CG when we exact revenge - Part 1.

Thinking about it, I'll show me arse anyway just to show my appreciation of the yellow peril
