Labour for me. They could be advocating eating live babies and I still wouldn't vote Tory.

Edit : Just noticed someone has voted Green. I would too, they're closer to my politics, but I live in a constituency where the Lib Dem's might keep Labour at bay. It's a sorry state of affairs when you've got to vote to keep a party out of power rather than trying to get one in.

I'm completely undecided at present.

Last election I voted conservative, i still think it was 100% right and I think they have done very well considering the tough situation at the time.

the only reason I'm slightly swaying to maybe Labour is that I wonder if the country can put up with another 4 years of hard cuts, I think its now at breaking point, as I work in a council I know that if they cut much more its going to start hitting the basic stuff they do, refuse/recycling collections may be fewer and longer gaps, help services for the needy trimmed down etc, etc is frankly little more than can trim.

But of course swaying me back is the view that are we maybe too early yet for the purse strings to be loosened.

Economy is all I'm currently bothered about, I am one who believes we should stay in the EU and immigration is just an excuse than a problem.

As Macclesfield has been Tory since before the Conservative Party were the Conservative party, with the margin not even being within touching distance since once in the 70s, I'll either not bother or vote Green.

Labour, but not with any particular enthusiasm. We're probably one of their safest seats so not that it would make a huge difference if I voted a different party. All said though I do quite like Dan Jarvis and he's done a good job since becoming our MP including being instrumental in getting the funding through for the much needed redevelopment of the town centre.

I'll probably vote for one of the little independent candidates like last time. My constituency has been Tory for something like the last 44 years so the only purpose of my vote is for the long-term and I'd like to see more independent/small party power as the main Westminster parties are generally very out of touch with the country and its needs.

That said, I don't mind the Tory MP for my constituency or what the Tories have done for the economy on the whole and that's the main election issue for me. I just remember the total fuck up Labour made of the economy last time round and that was unforgiveable frankly.

Labour. Hats off to the Tories, they have done a good job this parliament. The increase of the tax threshold has affected me kindly. I don't want services to take a further hit though (I realise the former and the latter and most likely incompatible) and I think more needs to be done to protect low earners.

You know, I was really tempted not to post in this thread as debating isn't really my thing and I am conscious there was a strong political debating group on here and on TFF previously. You can pull up any links you like to support any of the main three parties, there's so much spin in politics these days that you can read anything to support a party's view. That's why I don't like blogs or the press when it comes to politics as they all have a poltical bias even if they claim not to.

I just remember how this country was on it's knees a few years ago when the Tories came in after years of borrowing by Labour to fund high public expenditure. Tory policies have intended (I use that word importantly) to get that borrowing down and to cut public expenditure, both things I am in favour of. And that's the justification behind my statement.

But feel free to hold your own view, I am not going to question you or put up links which "prove" you to be wrong.

Same for me, as i live in a Tory Lib Dem area.

I live in a completely Tory area - although my ward is Green. It's the kind of area where you could put a blue rosette on a dog and it would walk into parliament. Even in 1997 Eleanor Laing got 45% of the vote. Infact since the constituency was created in 1966 it has only been Conservative. I expect UKIP to chip away a little bit at them, but there is no chance it will be anything else.

Does it really matter who we vote for though? Labour or Tory, we live in the post-political (Swyngedouw in particular has done excellent work on this) where essentially the ideals of left v right are dead and policy is instead based on the neo-liberal consensus.

I am undecided. The Tories have done well with the economy and I am unsure if their job is complete and whether the economy is fully recovered on the other hand I do think it's time there was some spending as a lot of people are struggling and I think they have for long enough soo I just don't know yet. Either way the odds on my constituency for Conservative are 1/100 so my vote will mean very little if I choose to go Labour

50% Green, 40% Liberal Democrats, 10% Labour - with Labour being foreign policy/ defence.

Interestingly, out of the 286 people who have taken that questionnaire in Epping Forest, it's 1. Green 2. Labour 3. Lib Dems 4. UKIP 5. Conservatives... With Green and Labour way out in-front. It's the opposite of what I expect to happen at election time.

The bro really sings his praises too. I remember him telling me about one lecture where Swingedouw came in having watched Mary Poppins the night before and went through each part of the film at blistering pace insisting it was all Marxism. He always wanted me to attend one of his lectures and I think I still wouldn't mind that! He seems to have really influenced him, it's quite inspiring to hear my brother's take on these things now.

Well that is what the Lib Dems pushed hard for over their time in power, but because the Lib Dems had to go in with the Tories to get their chance the public ditched it........which was stupid of the public really as it was what politics needed.

the ironic side for the Lib Dems is its the crap state of voting being kept has saved their party as it would die if their other alternative vote ideas had come in.

There is no way I will vote Labour. Absolute bunch of pussies who are just as bad as the Tories.

It's a shame the Lib Dems are finished as their drug policy is forward thinking. That leaves me with the Greens who aren't perfect but sadly a better option than the rest for the policies that interest me the moment. I'm not totally decieed at the moment.
