If they don't go up the first season, they will be stuck their for years.
The first season is crucial for the immediate return.
I personally don't think they will have enough, the championship is extremely competitive now with several teams in the mix to go up.

yeah i can that myself, you could see the Geordie fans getting Newcastle back up with their numbers but Villa fans are not the most loyal in the world.

As a Newcastle supporter I believe if we go down, we will go back up.
With Townsend and Shelvey being recent arrivals and on long term contracts they will stay.
Also Mitrovic has not yet proven his talent and can't see anyone matching our valuation for us to sell up.
Again, if we don't bounce back again, we will also struggle... there will be a mass exodus of players and supporters would not accept consecutive seasons in the championship and things could turn sour

I reckon we'll suffer 4 consecutive relegations before going bust and a phoenix club taking our place which will get 6 consecutive promotions then win the league.

Newcastle have (fairly) recent history of being able to bounce straight back so should they go down you'd imagine they'd go straight back up, if not then the season after. Villa, I could very easily see them doing a Middlesbrough, be there or there abouts generally but take years to get over the line (if Boro are to this year).

Well I for one will miss them. Never minded them or their fans. Hope they bounce.

Ahh, it's all good fun a massive club being relegated mate, people were the same with Newcastle. This is more exciting for people, as the 4th most succesful English team are going down, not some strange fat people who never wear shirts. We'll be back eventually. Doubt we'll be back immediately, mind you.

I could have sworn Hiddink had turned Chelsea around!

Yeahhh, if you're using wikipedia, check that again. It counts the intertoto cup ffs. Yes that gives us one more, but it doesn't hold credence. The trophies that matter, we are (just) ahead of them.

League: Villa 7-5 Chelsea
FA Cup: Villa 7-7 Chelsea
League Cup: Villa 5-5 Chelsea
European Cup: Villa 1-1 Chelsea

And, if for argument's sake you wish to include the UEFA Cup, then Chelsea get one more.

well, what remains of them anyway...

Look, ma! I caught a fishy!!! It's a big 'un!

is it bigger than your rapidly falling attendances? never seen a set of fans abandon their club so quick.

Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
They remind me a bit of City in the 90s. An absolute basket case. It took City nearly a decade to really get back to the top flight and feel like they were going to actually be anything but a yoyo side.

Hell of a ride, though.

But Newcastle are the biggest club in the universe, and if you don't count the Intertoto then they've not won anything since we had a king...

Ho hum.

King Consort dear boy...

Actually, that means darling Lizzie married to El Hadj Diouf...not saying I wouldn't want to see it, but it's not exactly on the coupon!

I think one of the things with this debate is that to the neutral, it's almost a footnote that Villa won the Champion's League (sic/w/e) as Forest winning it twice is the bizarre memorable one and LIverpool obviously cleared up (before getting everyone banned for making a mess) in that era.

Or maybe it's just because your Withes and co aren't in a media mafia and keep bringing it up. Ho hum.

Everton have more league titles than Chelsea, Spurs Man City and little Villa....... :bg:

In fact only Man United Arsenal and Pitypool have won the biggest trophy in English football more times.

Villa are like Wolves used to be big club hundreds of years ago...........i hope the club dies a slow death.

Of course not. You think Bolton had it bad? Watch this space.
