Massive shame there’s no fans in on Saturday, I’m guessing it would have been a sellout?

Fair play to Wrexham, been down here for far longer than is remotely humane. Even our fake money takeover was much more fun than the vast majority of other years so a genuinely glamorous takeover should be great.

Getting the Cowleys on board has got to be the first port of call hasn’t it?

We’ve been down here since before your dodgy takeover. Can you believe that.

Danny Cowley would probably only sign if he knew there was going to be a documentary.

Not True.... shy and retiring remember. He would leave that to his brother

Yeh I kind of put them in a Luton Town/Lincoln City ball park. But with potential for much more fans.
I guess we (Notts) really need to be looking for top now as I think the playoffs could be very tasty indeed.
Wrexham are in our top 3 most frequent opponents over the past 100 years. That alone is all anyone needs to know about where Wrexham stand in the grand scheme of things. :fl:

Actually, yes I can. Look at the league tables over the past 100 years, there are a dozen clubs you will see perennially in the bottom half of the bottom division. 2/3s of them are currently down here right now. Theres a reason for that- we're all SHIT. Being shit is in our DNA. No amount of money will ever change that. :fl:

Luton definitely a much bigger club than us, I always regard them and Oxford as the biggest clubs ever in this league.

Agree Lincoln attendances are surprising how they just shot up. No reason why we can't replicate what they have done though.
I Know we were only down here for one season so really hard to compare on a like for like but in that one year i believe we had the highest ever average gate 6000 + and also the highest ever league. attendance of over 11k versus Alfreton. Also in our Wembley trips we have taken more fans than both Oxford & Luton. We also take a lot more away supporters than both or did before Covid. Anyway I'm not trying to sound like the we're better than them just a little bigger.

I do love Natural Order discussions. I have to say Luton are definitely a bigger club than Bristol Rovers though, they played in the top flight for many years and have won a League Cup.

We’ve spent twice as many seasons in the top flight as Luton and won an FA Cup. Certified giants, just don’t look when it was.

Luton are a bigger club than us, though. I’d have us joint with Rovers as the second biggest to play down here, think we’re a similar size - they’re a bit better supported, we’re more historically significant.

Aye he does like a camera does our Dan. Fair play to him, I think he’s a great pundit, and actually does point out things about a game that the average fan may not notice.

The bigness in the league debate. Yes I’d say Luton are the only club bigger than us to have ended up down here, but unlike us, they needed the help of a points deduction. Rovers aren’t far off, but they’re Bristol fucking Rovers, who cares about them?

There's no way Bristol Rovers are bigger than Luton. They are out on their own as the single biggest team to have been here.

Luton fans reading this thread will have raging hard ons by now, no doubt. Still a shithole, though.

Here's the be all and end all grouped table of brotherhood clubs since we've been non-league (yes I'm bored):

THE BIGGEST

Luton Town

THE CHALLENGERS

Bristol Not As Big As Luton Sorry GEORGE Rovers, Oxford United, Notts County, Tranmere Rovers (by the skin of their teeth)

THE WHY DO WE BOTHER? GROUP

Wrexham, Hartlepools United, Chesterfield, Stockport County, Grimsby Town

THE 2000s BOYS

Lincoln City, York City, Torquay United, Mansfield Town, Cambridge United

Clubs that went extinct in like the last 20 years are exempt, of course. I did feel a bit dirty putting Mansfield and Cambridge in here, I won't lie.

By the way, a serious question- who are these 2 guys, I've honestly NEVER heard of either of them? What films have they been in, what roles did they play? Serious question. :dk:

There is NO hierarchy in the Brotherhood, all clubs have equal standing. Your list is incomplete in any case.

As a point of order...are Cambridge and Lincoln in the Brotherhood?

Why do you feel dirty

The Brotherhood isn’t really accepted by actual EFL supporters, ironically.

Nothing to do with EFL supporters. I am the founder and sole administrator. The 92 members of The Brotherhood are the clubs who were in the Football League in 1986, a time when it wasn't necessary to explain that the Football League was based in England, because everybody in the world already knew that. :ds:

Not at all -- You are probably right as Luton Town have been quite successful in their history. And as you say have had a better history than us. But gate wise when we are playing in the same division and on a par. We do get better crowds both home and away.

Can anyone remind me what it is Mansfield did? I'm sure it was something but I cannot remember.

Good insight from Humphrey Ker, out Executive Director here: ‘Why Wrexham? The inside track on the Hollywood takeover’

Full interview here from 36 minutes in is well worth listening to: Gareth Lewis - 11/02/2021 - BBC Sounds

It seems we have him to thank for choosing us, and they seem to be very grounded:

"Listen, we encourage the fan base having their day in the sun and taunting rivals with all the wonderful things that are coming down the line, but we want to go about this in a serious way because we recognise that the stewardship of this club is an incredibly serious thing.

"So our first objective is promotion but we're not going to spend £5m next year, dig out every journeyman from a higher league and say we'll blow everyone away - we want to build a structure that almost means that inexorably we can't remain in the National League, because the level of facilities and the professionalism that we've instilled."

"If I was very being very confident I would say our expectation is to get into League One and to thrive..."

What have Reynolds & co. had to pay in order to secure the takeover? They’ve obviously injected in £2m straight-away, but were there other additional costs to service (i.e debt to pay-off)?

We had no debt.

Nothing. The WST voted to transfer the shares to them for a peppercorn, on the basis of the £2m injection and various stipulations (to do with where we play and a few other things).

Cheers.

That is a great deal all round then, especially if they keep on injecting in funds as share capital, rather than loans.

Have WST retained a place on the Board even though they've sacrificed all their shares?
