Played Guiseley on Tuesday and beat them 2-0 with goals from Payne and James Carvell.

Beat Yeovil 2-1 away from home. Kodjia and Flint with the goalscore. O'Dowda went off injured in the first half. :ffs:
Except he wasn't injured, it was a precaution, he had taken a few hits so was taken off so he wouldn't be injured

A knock, an injury, same thing. It wasn't reported how serious it was.

Beat Chesterfield 2-0 at the Proact Stadium, first half goals from Kieron Lee and Fernando Forestieri. We looked excellent for the first 65 minutes passing the ball around for fun, neat tippy tappy football in the centre and fast and dangerous when stretching the play, Chesterfield couldn't deal with it and they actually looked really poor, not sure if that was because we were really good? Then we made 10 changes at once throwing 4 of the devlopment lads on and the game faded out, some real positives from today though but still a few players short. Onto Benfica on Wednesday night now.

I think most of us are pretty much fielding 2 different sides at the mo Liam. I believe we changed the whole side at half time today, certainly most of it anyway. I can't see too many of our 2nd half team starting against Wigan apart from Goldbourne and Flint who played 90 minutes by the looks of it. All the 2nd half players in brackets.

O’Donnell, Little (Ayling ), Flint, Williams (Vyner ), Bryan (Golbourne ), O’Neil (Brownhill ), Pack, O’Dowda (Smith, Armenteros ), Reid (Freeman), Tomlin (Agard, Garita), Kodjia (Wilbraham).

Lost 2-0 to Utd, slightly concerning that we've now played 4 games (2 behind closed doors) without scoring a goal. Our defence looks solid though, the two goals conceded today was a goalkeeping howler and a setpiece goal so nothing concerning. Reminded me why I hate friendlies though, we treated it like an extended passing exercise and didn't even try to put pressure on them with balls in the box when we had a dangerous setpiece. Mikhi looked a top player for them but Depay was terrible (although credit to our defence in part for that). I can see Jose selling him. Liverpool tomorrow, glad I won't be going with 10k+ Scousers expected.

I heard Villa got booed off at half time losing 1-0 at Telford and booed back on for the start of the second half

Is Rudd gonna be playing for you lot this season? He's out of contract next summer I believe.

I doubt it. Looks like McGovern is coming in now and imagine he'll be competing with Ruddy for the spot. Rudd was a little disappointing in his run in the first team last year. Just lacked the presence and struggled to organise the defence. I think it would be best if he left for everyone concerned. Quite clearly got talent but never going to fulfil that here.

Callum Woods off on a stretcher at Oldham after a bad challenge, supposedly taken straight to hospital.

40 games in the Championship last season suggests not.
But how many did he score is the point I think.
Garner is fantastic in League 1, but I don't ever remember him having a great season in the Championship

Six while being asked to play as a lone targetman for the most part.

Garner brings a lot more to our team than goals and is one of the first names on the team sheet.

Not a particularly good return though. Obviously I realise he has more to his game- diving for freekicks and leaving a foot in on defenders being just 2- but other clubs have defenders who score the same amount of goals in less games.

Judging by that, you're obviously one of these opposition fans that he's rattled in the past (usually teams we beat) so there's very little point having a discussion with you.

End of the day we finished in comfortable mid-table in our first season back and he was one of the reasons why. Numerous opposition managers praised him last season so he must have been doing something right.

Again, people who don't watch Garner regularly or haven't watched him in the past will judge him on his goal record. It's usually phenomenal in L1, yet to cut it in this division though. That's not to say he's not a good striker in this division, because as you say he has far more to his game than just goals.

I'd definitely have him here as an option.

He missed some absolute sitters last season, whether that be a lack of confidence or composure I don't know but it would be no surprise to me if he had an out of the blue, prolific season at some point like players such as Daryl Murphy and Lewis Grabban.

It can't be over-stated how much North End and Garner missed Beckford last season, the likes of Eoin Doyle, Will Keane and Jordan Hugill just didn't cut it on a regular basis.

Not rattled me at all, I just don't particularly like the diving part of his game, just like I don't with Diego Costa, Ronaldo, Neymar, Nani and countless others, though the "diving and leaving a foot in" part was being said slightly in jest, should have put in a smiley.
