We have bizarrely sacked Burchnall’s assistant, the combative Scot Maurice Ross. No further comment from the club.

He did an interview that was released Friday night in which he said we needed ‘3 or 4 animals’ next season (fair comment imo), the early speculation is it may be linked to that

I wonder what he did and there this leaves IB.Not been a massive fan of IB so far but seems like a lonely figure now.

Ross spoke really well and passionately about stuff. He also looked and sounded slightly terrifying.

Perhaps he made one of the players cry by telling some home truth's.

Wouldn’t be surprised if there is something in this, and someone had a pop at him in training today. There are *rumours* that IB is shortly to follow and the club is just trying to sort a payoff, but they are just rumours right now.

What a club!

Not entirely sure I’m buying that - would surely announce it together.

Well done Reedtz Bros. The sooner you admit a mistake the sooner you can rectify it.
One down one to go.
O'Brien should be made stand in manager til the end of the season, he's already coaching at Barnsley.

We’ve had to sack our assistant for abusing one of our own players, but we can’t announce it on our own social media because we’re observing the anti-abuse boycott. This club.

What a mess. How hard is it not to be so offensive that you have to be sacked. You can bollock a player without having to be that grossly offensive.

So we're guessing race/sexuality remark?

We’ve said nothing in our statement (presumably because we’ll be pushing gross misconduct or whatever), but Ross has basically come out and said ‘I’m a disgrace and the club had to sack me’, which suggests it’s pretty bad.

The only thing that’s a bit weird is that there was no suggestion of this on Saturday - Burchnall and Rich Brindley were both perfectly normal in their post-match interviews etc.

I once abused Maurice Ross. I was a bit worse for wear outside Ibrox (I'd gone to see a Pre season friendly versus Everton with some Everton supporting mates). We were hanging out near the players car park Ross pulls up and came towards us, possibly thinking we wanted an autograph. I, quite rudely, said "who the fuck are you?" to his face. He walked off looking crestfallen.

I had no idea who he was though.

Not even bollocked someone. Post reckon he made a comment to one of the subs on Saturday about one of the players on the pitch. Seems it all came to a head yesterday when the rest of the squad found out about it and went to the Chief Exec en masse. What an absolute idiot.

God knows where it leaves Burchnall and the rest of our season.

Clutching at straws somewhat but I’m hoping Mo might have been a fairly ‘outspoken’ voice around the place that was pissing the squad right off and now he’s gone they might try to play a bit for IB... yeah I know.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they make Doyle or O’Brien or someone his assistant between now and the end of the season in a bid to build a bridge between IB and the fans. As long as it’s not Ben Turner

IB’s position basically depends on what’s happened yesterday. Ross wasn’t at training, so presumably IB knew something was up. It’s a case of whether he’s tried to talk the players down and they’ve gone to Turner over his head, or whether he’s backed up the players in making a complaint about it. If it’s the former then his position looks pretty untenable, the latter and it looks a lot stronger.

Callum Roberts is my pick. He'd be the best assistant manager in non league

Not sure IB and Ross have worked together before. IB might be relieved he's gone.

We will find out about 17;20 how it's impacted da squad.

Michael Doyle replaces Ross until the end of the season, will still play/captain as well.

Sensible move that I could see becoming a longer term thing if it works. Suggests there’s no rift between the players and Burchnall too as Doyle is very much the senior pro and dressing room leader.
