Third story on the national News at 6. Only beaten by floods and covid.

Worth doing just for proving how big we are.

I assume you mean regional news. The only club who make the national news down here is us.

No mate, National. ITN reporters talking about the flood evacuations in Didsbury heard about it at 5 and headed down to the ground.

If the Japanese lads would be over, they would, I'm convinced of that. It'll be a decent story over there too I'd imagine.

Hearing there were numerous complaints of bullying and that’s why he’s gone.

Always going to happen. When you spend money like Salford you have to produce. There is no room for error. Maybe their owner isn’t the saviour they all said he were. Some of the shite they were spouting on Twitter when he took over the club was hilarious

Its widely known that Gannon is a complete price though and has history for this stuff. Surely Askey would be a no brainer?

Would hope for someone better who we can go long term with not someone just sacked by Port Vale.

A Proper Club at this level should really have Garrard near the top of their list.

Nope, nothing on the national news here.

As one of the WUM's wrote on twitter....

Evatt to leave Bolton by mutual consent and take the Stockport Job....

As a manager he's nothing without Rooney

don't even think of taking our Cowleys

they only have one eye on the prize, and that's a starring role in a Netflix doc

Shy and retiring Cowley just wants to be left out of the spotlight.

Gannon does come across as a bit of an old school kinda manger who you can imagine being a prick.

but did he learn his craft (ales) from Brian Clough a la Gary Mills?

I agree though, he is the lower league Allardyce. Comes in, shakes a club up, improves it, then people get bored of his style and he gets binned

I don't think Gannon could be any different from Sam Allardyce.

Gannon doesn't improve a club straight away at all. It takes time for him to get his players in and usually he likes young players who he can mould. The old senior pros like Geoff Horsfield is where he has his run ins.

Once you have a group of players who know what is required of them, that is when he has had his success here.

The word "culture" in this saga was first used by Gannon. He said the new players we have didn't understand the culture he'd implemented into the club. And he was probably right. A lot of our new players aren't Gannon players at all.

The decision to sack him has been met with near complete disdain. Gannon has done so much for County. A couple of sponsors have already pulled out of the club after the news.

fair enough.

if the signings weren't Gannon players, this means that the club have gone over his head and undermined Gannons vision which must have always been their plan long term

its all very messy

Remember when we pumped Stockport and Gannon wittering on about the culture of the club, that it had less of that than Australia had or something.

No surprises there. It was top news bulletin on Saudi TV by the way then it cut out to a solemn prayer session from Mecca.

It will be interesting to see where Gannon goes to next, or if he even wants to stay in football management. The circumstances after this sacking are far different than the last time where it was quite clear his stock had plummeted and he needed to rebuild his reputation.

I think it's fair to say he has rebuilt that reputation and clubs at this level (maybe league 2?) may be interested in him. Would the Wrexham boys take him if he wants a 2nd bite of the cherry at another wadded brotherhood club?

IF, and its a big IF, it was between Gannon and the Cowleys... I think the consensus is we would prefer the latter.

So in that case, welcome the Wrexham John Askey

Surely the Cowleys have got enough credit in the bank to get a decent League One job next up? Be very surprised to see them back down here.

That is very much the case and if they do come to Wrexham i will be amazed.

But given recent names bandied about, and the fact that ex Liverpool CEO Peter Moore is going to be involved in advising the club moving forwards, anything is a possibility. I mean, Eddie Howe and Mark Hughes have been mentioned as potentials since the takeover was announced. Anything could happen.

i seem to remember a certain ex England manager getting involved at County in similar conditions to ours? ;)

Neither the Cowley or Eddie Howe or Mark Hughes are going to be our manager. We just like to get carried away.

Any time a Premier league or Championship manager leaves his job a new thread is born on RP.
