Would ideally like Jim Gannon but we'll probably end up with Dean Brennan.

You keep your filthy hands to yourselves

He's biding his time until the Two Simons are sacked off, then he can take the reins for a fourth glittering chapter at Edgeley Park (before being pointlessly sacked a fourth time a couple of years down the road)

There is zero chance of us appointing Gannon.

I would be surprised if it isn't Brennan.

What you'll get with Brennan is really attractive expansive football, all out attack with overloads in the opposition box. What you'll also get with Brennan is vast open spaces for opposition forwards to play in. It's kamikaze football at this level, ridiculously intense to watch (and often fun) but firms up the view that he is tactically naive beyond the NLS - hence the problems Stones faced from day 1 in the NL. Our defensive record is the 2nd worst in the division, ahead of.. Barnet.

We're defensively awful anyway so I'll take conceding and scoring over just conceding.

If the rumour I've seen about our lunchtime announcement is true, Darren Currie won't be taking the Wealdstone job.

Harry Kewell is now in the running for our job. I'd rather have Brennan.

Managers can adapt to the level over time. Just look at Dean Smith at Villa, were conceding plenty of goals first season back in the premier league, this season they have one of the tightest defences in the premier league.

Anderson might bring a level of pragmatism to the management team that was missing under Brennan for us this season (because he fell out with his assistant). If they can shore up the defence, they'll implement attractive football and your side will be good to watch.

Fairclough is a decent and honest man who is very well respected at our place and will always be credited for his achievements here, but he hasn't had a "proper" managerial job for 13 years and has been semi-retired for ages. At 71 surely our oldest ever manager too?

OK with him coming in for a few games though. He's a safe if very unspectacular pair of hands, which makes him an improvement on his predecessors at least. He's not losing a dressing room that's for sure.

There we go, confirmation that Stuart Maynard is formally announced as first team manager with Matt Saunders as his assistant until the end of next season.

Whilst this appears to be a big risk, as neither have ever managed before - nor had Currie at Barnet when he took over, stepping up from No 2 - they have already made us tighter at the back, despite injuries ravaging the back four.

i suspect we will be a fitter and better organised side, but less attractive going forward. Summer recruitment, which was more or less non existent last summer, will be key.

I'm glad the news has been received positively by the support base. Considering the run we'd been on prior to Brennan's departure and the constraints the football club are under right now, 8 points from 7 games is a decent enough return.

Absolutely summer recruitment will be key - it's the midfield which needs addressing ideally, I'd want us to retain the technical ability that the current crop of players have whilst also adding some dynamism and combativity, it's still too easy to play through us.

If you do, you'll need to sort your pitch out. He loves his defenders making mistakes by playing out from the back.

Give this man the Notts job immediately.

Fairclough steps down as caretaker. A new manager will be in place by Saturday.

Christ I forgot all about Coughlan. I wonder if he might the shortest-lived next big thing ever.

Our pitch is absolutely fine this season. Probably only Borehamwood’s pitch is in a better state than our’s in this league this season.
I really don’t want to see the likes of Ben Richards-Everton overplaying the ball from the ball and trying to bypass the opposition press though.
