Imagine what it would feel like for Mike Jackson if he didn't have the full backing of the "supporters" of TRFC. We have had two draws in cup games. Judge the team and its manager after 10 league games. We have always been poor at penalties. Even the England team could beat us at them.

Yep it’s been two draws. We haven’t set the word alight granted but it’ll take time for the new signings to gel just as it did last season for the new January additions. But not only do we have new players, we have a new manager with new coaching staff so of course it will take a few games to adjust.

I think with the squad we have, its one of the strongest in the division and I still think we’ll bring in one or two more. Would be surprised if we’re not there or thereabouts.

Slight tweak to mine. We’re way worse than I ever imagined we’d be, but somehow we look a worse defensive mess than last season.

Hopefully we will be at Prenton Park soon but its not looking promising after yesterdays briefing from BoJo. Saw some of our stewards yesterday by a testing station for the virus in their TRFC hi vis jackets and started looking for a referee or linesman to harrass. I think we will continue to be a typical TRFC team, entertainingly frustrating. Dont expect us to be the League 2 version of Barcelona but equally do not think we are going to be poor. The last occasions we won a title world war 1 and 2 started the following year so maybe thats best avoided.

Stability is one of the factors in Port Vale’s favour, they’ve kept the core and made some good additions to the squad, with much more depth than Rovers have. Their manager is an asset whereas Salford and last season’s Mansfield underperformed given the squads at their disposal because of their bosses. I don’t think there are any stand-out teams for the coming season, neither are there any sides light years behind the rest

Good post. We have made some good additions over the summer, the best possibly being McKirdy who joined only a few days ago. But keeping the same 11 as last season, and especially Nathan Smith who I can't believe we managed to hang on to, was our best business. We don't really have a star player... But as you say, it's our depth that will possibly get us out of this league if we have the bit of luck you need over the season.

To think that our subs bench could include Pope, Robinson, Amoo, McKirdy and Oyeleke is insane. If fit all of these walk into our best 11 from any of the last handful of seasons.

Maynard would have been a good signing for Vale.

I really wanted him but Robinson has just as good a goal scoring record as him in the last couple of years. Besides, if Cullen can stay fit then he stays in our starting 11. We only play with one up front. Cullen has more than enough quality to score 15-20 goals this season if we're in the top 6, but that's only if he stays fit which is a big if.

New signing McKirdy also scored 11 goals for a shit Carlisle team last season too. So if he can get in our 11 there's no reason why he can't hit double figures for us. Goals won't be such an issue as some Vale fans seem to be making out. We won't be putting 4 and 5 past teams most weeks, but considering that I'm sure we'll have one of the best defensive records in the league come the end of the season, we won't need to. Two will be enough to win plenty of games.

Guarantee we'll finish at least 18 places above you, you wand.

Well that’s your special prediction. I’m not making any guarantees about you finishing 18th, it’s just a prediction.

Dunno why you’re getting so wound up about a prediction.

Because you have a side that finished 7th last year, were only denied a play-off spot because of the pandemic (seeing as we were one of the form teams in the league when football stopped) and also not only kept our best 11 from last season but added some real quality to it, and much better depth, suddenly finishing 11 places lower somehow. Everyone is allowed an opinion, but clearly you don't really know what you're talking about.

Edited mine again to put Port Vale 24th. I

If Valiant Tyler was this salty about an 18th prediction, he’ll be slicing himself open when he sees this.

Oh, no. Some weird numpty has edited his table for the third time. What will I do?!

Get a clue, kid.

I know you're upset because you're finishing bottom two and going out the football league this season, but stop throwing your toys out the pram just because I called you out on your bizarre table.

Go and look at all the other predictions from the last 4 or 5 pages. Not one has us outside the top 8 other than yourself. That's not because we are FC Bayern, but because others here have a little bit of common sense. You still haven't answered how you can place a team that's much stronger all over the pitch than last season 11 places lower? You can't, can you?

Back to Football Manager you go. Numpty.

It’s a prediction that I spent about 1 minute on, that’s why. There was no thought at all into it apart from a few of the teams I think will be near the top and where my own team will finish because funnily enough that’s the only team I give a fuck about.

I only even considered Port Vale’s position when you started menstruating about it.

I’m not going to go looking through 5 pages of predictions because I couldn’t give a fuck about where people place Port Vale. Sorry.

So why are you getting mad/upset because I asked how you can put us in 18th? You're basically admitting that it's completely random, which I knew it must have been. Had you just said that at the beginning I wouldn't have wasted either of our time replying so many times. I was genuinely intrigued how you had us in 18th place this season if it was genuine.

Because you got so wound up about it, you seemed “mad/upset”, the fact you called me a helmet over a little prediction made me wonder, so I decided to join in the childish name calling.

Well anyone who would put us as low as 18th is an helmet. Because it's absolutely senseless. But the fact that you just chose a bunch of teams and placed them randomly, by your own admission, is different. But it took a bunch of posts for me to find that out.

That’s why I said last season’s Mansfield. Predicted that you’d make the play-offs this season. Due to Ifollow failings, didn’t get to see any of yesterday’s action, but those Rovers fans who did thought you were a bit one-dimensional directing most of your attacks through Cook.

When did Bristol Rovers make the play offs? Must have missed that.

Like how you conveniently ‘missed’ what’s changed at Mansfield, reprobate

Many times over the years -- But I'm afraid not in GC's time.

I sympathise, I remember when Steve Evans left us in a play-offs position and we bottled it afterwards, tough to take.
