I think this'll be a very tough game, Barnet's home form is one of the best in the league. Not only that, but they dominated us at Brunton Park earlier in the season and were unlucky to leave with nothing.

I'd like to think Gillespie will be back in for this one, and hopefully Kennedy returns from his back problem.

The gap between us and the top 5 is widening (though we do have multiple games in hand) so we could really do with a win here, but I think we'll do well to get 3pts.

No Yiadom for this one. Team is down to kids and bare bones. Will need replacements this week or we are going to be a shadow of the team you played earlier in the season.

The game at Brunton Park was one of the most undeserved wins I have ever seen a side grab in a match, we were totally played off the park during the game, but I suppose the reality for Barnet back then that their season was not going to be as good as maybe hoped was they played great and still leaked 3 goals in the process and flogged the game.

But I think in that game Allen got his tactics absolutely spot on but their team wasn't as good as ours was individually which cost them, the problem this time for Barnet is we don't play that 3-1-2-4 formation at the minute and just a simple 4-4-2, but still with an emphasis to attack. this time Allens tactic twist won't won't so he'll have to play them differently.

as for us well we need a win, while we have decent form at moment the mass of posponements then failed results means it feels like a long time since we won.

Our team really needs a to put in the ugly work to get a result in this one, the last 2 matches we've played were not won due to unorganised play and a fair bit of fannying around. Need to pull themselves together as a unit.

I want Asamoah back in the starting 11 for this one. He murdered their centre backs at Brunton Park and got us the undeserved win.

I worry about Ellis against Akinde. He's not the strongest physically and could get dominated. Would also like to see Tom Miller back in the starting 11 and Kennedy if fit.

Well I'm looking forward to this match especially as I took up a generous offer of a half price ticket from the club. Great gesture from the club to our northern chums to offer cheap tickets. Although I've read some embarrassing moaning from a few Carlisle fans as they paid full price. Tough shit. Im sure many fans will be grateful.

I have a feeling I may be on the same train to Euston tomorrow morning as the Carlisle squad.

This will be weird, I won't let on that I know who they are or that I know anything about football, and I'll try to listen out for a few secrets.

Maybe Curle and Dykes will discuss their plans for a coup against Nixon in the near future and an official renaming to Curlisle.

one of the big games I always regret not going to was that midweek game down at Underhill in the conference. I just wish to have seen where all the real vile and hate built up fully. I went to the 2-1 win in L2 but I don't think I had previously or since seen the anger and hate in amongst the away fans as when you went 1-up that game.

although being on confguide during that conference season I did see the other stuff I ended up on a scarborough forum for a while with some barnet fans keeping away from the OTT stuff.

ah well it made it fun for a season or two, be interesting how the new ground is, I was tempted to go due to that.

Seems a long time ago that we raced away with the league, the game at underhill was brilliant that Tuesday night playing until we equalised. A point probably not known was that the penalty we missed that night was taken by the one player who had not scored all season.... So bit of a Piss take on the opposition. Shame we don't have a player like Ian Hendon to wind up the Carlisle team..... Them were the days.

Great article linked above. That Conference season and the two clashes with Carlisle were legendary.

Just a shame that we were unable to keep up with Carlisle as they went straight through L2....

I was at the match when we played you at home, something like 9000 was the attendance for that conference match, but with only about 50 away fans.

Your club was and still is much more accustomed to Non-League football, so that's why you did better than us in the conference, but nowhere near as good as us in L2 the following season. Your manager at the time, what was his name? Fairclough? He was an utter twat according to one of our players, Chris Lumsden.

I think we'd have to accept that when it came to which club had the biggest twat as a manager, Carlisle with Simpson, won it hands down.

Really? I've only ever known Simpson to be a decent fella, even towards other clubs.

I don't know, that white haired fuckbucket was a bit of a sour faced twat if you ask me.

Is he still alive?

Surely this is all set-up for a Gilliead winner seeing as Simpson is a big reason for us managing to get him off Newcastle? Need to be winning this anyway, been a couple of games without a win now and we could use a boost before the replay vs Yeovil.

Wind up merchant confirmed. Simpson was a bitter, sexist moron and that ex player on your forum bigging up the fact that he was looking for a "ruck" with our players is no better.

Embarrassing all round from CUFC.

Yes, alive and well and allowing women into the work place, much to the consternation of Simp The Sexist.
What's white hair doing these days? He must be old now!

Simp is failing with McClown at the barcodes these days.

Gilliead dropped to the bench. Probably rightly so given his last couple of performances.

Hopefully it'll be the kick up the arse he needs and he can be back to his best on Tuesday.

Gillespie
Atkinson
Raynes
Ellis
Grainger
Joyce
Kennedy
Hery
Wyke
Hope
Ibehre

Not surprised to see Hope start as we'll be expecting a physical battle against dembele and co. Would have started Asamoah as well.

A couple of changes for us, looks like a 4-4-2 with Hope and Kennedy on the wings, assuming Grainger drops back into left back. Hery is starting for the first time in a while too, hopefully he offers us a bit more creativity in the centre.

Edit: It could actually be a 4-3-3.

Yiadom and Akinde dropped/injured, Batt starting and N'Gala in defence. No Striker on the bench.

What the fuck MA.

Enjoy your three points Carlise, hope its worth the trip down, because that line up is not worth the significantly shorter journey for most of us. Fuck sake.
