I'm guessing for the sheer improbability of two teams getting successive relegations.

Funny really that out of this division, us and Tranmere are the two who were highest placed in the Football league last season. I mean obviously teams that come down often don't do so well following relegation but still.
The difference is Shrewsbury didn't fuck about, they made the change as soon as they got relegated. We stuk with kav despite his obvious managerial fucktardedness. That's the difference.
Stevenage already had manager who's proven he could get them promoted.

Thet why we shit they good Season

I think it'd be bad news for Hartlepool on two fronts if we were to be safe by the time we play them. Firstly obviously they want to be in with a chance of beating and overtaking us, and secondly I really think that if we have nothing to play for and can relax and not worry about the defensive side so much then we could hammer someone.

I was going through our team on our forum earlier and it occurs to me that, barring a couple of obvious very weak links which are easy to exploit, we actually have a good team which, with the right manager, could be fighting at the right end of the table for once next season. One of our main issues recently has been that we play really well, score and then worry about conceding and dropping points. If we don't have anything to worry about I can see us pushing on and trying to score more instead of cowering back.

Like you say HG, we should've got rid of Kav as soon as we were relegated. I don't think Curle's the best manager but he's done a bloody good job to get us nearly safe when we were so devoid of confidence when he joined. I'm hoping that next season we can start well and then hopefully see some of the confidence players come out. I'm almost certain that Amoo would be one of our best players if we were regularly winning games.

I agree, yet I think there's a good chance Hartlepool will hammer us if it's a one match winner takes all survival match. Our shit our pants gutless side will take over

I can see us falling into the bottom 2 going into the last game of the season, needing 3 points for safety, with Hartlepool only needing a point.

The reality of relegation from the football league is stressing me, massively.

The Fancy Dress theme for Pools fans has been revealed....

....Bob Marley

They've nearly sold their initial allocation of 1500-odd, and have been given an extra 300-odd.

But, Bob Marley?

Hope we don't give them any more than the extra 300. If we need a result we want our fans to be outnumbering them as much as possible.

Unless of course we're safe by then, in that case the more the merrier.

I am expecting HG to check every signing to make sure they are eligible!

Let them have as many tickets as they want.

Hartlepool had better hope they get the job done next week, because now we're safe, we will win this game.

There's currently a little hoo-hah going on over their fancy dress. They decided to come in dreadlock wigs, as Bob Marley since they've been singing Three Little Birds a lot lately. However a few people on Facebook have been going one step further and talking about blacking up and bringing gollywogs and bananas so now the rest of the Poolies are having second thoughts about the whole thing and worrying that this minority will ruin it for everyone else and bring unwanted media attention to the club.

It's a ridiculous idea and will be jumped on by the media. I just hope our idiot section don't do anything that risks our reputation as a decent club.

I'd rather it was just up to our 2000 travelling fans to wear as much blue and white clobber as possible

For potentially such an important game I don't think fancy dress is appropriate to be honest. Wear your club colours, support the team. If it was a meaningless end of season piss up match, fair enough have fun and dress up.

Can you imagine a bunch of crying Bob Marleys if the team gets relegated from the football league?

How many do you think you will sell altogether? And how many of those will be in fancy dress?
One of your fans on our forum says they've only just gone on general sale this week, so 1500 is a decent effort thus far.

We could literally sell thousands really. We're often well-backed at crunch away games or local matches. Can't see you giving us more than 2000 for safety reasons. There's a history of trouble at our fixtures.

None of the people I know will be wearing fancy dress and judging by the reaction our forums, I can't see too many bothering with it.

Last time it came up there was a question of how the police were going to grade it (apparently they give games categories for potential for misbehavior and this affects how many tickets you can sell and also how many police will be needed).

They've only been given 500 terrace tickets. That terrace holds at least three times that.

Here's something for the Hartlepool fans.

There are a few white seats off to one side of that terrace. I'm not sure what purpose they serve or whether you're allowed to sit in them. You can see them just to the right of the stand in this photo.

They were rescued from the Feethams when Darlo demolished it, bought for a pound each, you'll also see a few white seats in the upper tier of the Main Stand, which are the same.

Darlo actually tried to talk us into buying some of the unused seats from the Crook's Arena but we didn't want them as they were red.

Should be a decent home attendance too, looking forward to it already!

Hopefully it's a sunny day for the Pools fans on the terrace, not many fans get to experience the away terrace.

It's always the way really with something like this, a few people will latch on to and use it as an excuse to see how 'non-PC' they can be. It's like the kids in the Warwick who sing 'we're not racist it's only a fruit', well shut up about it then, I've never even seen anyone throw a banana, they wouldn't dare, they just like to rail against the 'PC brigade'.

Bob Marley was mixed-race anyway, and his skin colour wasn't especially dark, so if someone does 'black up' then they're actually dressing up as Eddie Grant.

Having two goals at that end is a novel touch too.

If there was anything ever that would turn me into a Racist it is the OTT PC bullsh*te crap-trap crap that comes out on anything thesedays.

its fancy dress, are we now going to prosecute people at a Doctor Who convention if we think about the effect it may have on poor Daleks emotions if people dress up as one.

Really hope none of the Bob Marley stuff goes ahead.

And if blacking up counts as "PC bullshite" these days then take a look at yourself.

Nobody suggested that dressing as Bob Marley was racist though, and Keith Curle said he didn't see it as racist either. The whole PC brigade thing is a myth used by a small minority to see how far they can push it, you don't need to black up to dress as Bob Marley and you certainly don't need to wave bananas and gollywogs around, as was being suggested by some fans, they just claim the PC brigade are preventing them from dressing up, or calling a blackboard a blackboard to try and make it seem acceptable for them to do what they want to do, which is drag us all back into the seventies.

Reading it, it is just referring to the blacking up, Hartlepool fans can still wear dreadlock wigs, red, gold and green beanie hats and smoke oversized spliffs if they want to, though looking at their forum it seems that the majority of them have gone off the whole idea anyway.
