Not sure, I reckon Wilkin was looking forward to giving them all their marching orders. Hasn't been any contract talks mentioned with any of them apart from Manny Smith, which was a no brainer. I doubt it has helped, can't see a player putting a real shift in for a manager that they know is going to release them in the summer.

I would love Moult to join his brother at Alty. Never going to happen, but one can dream.

Not sure Wilkin can argue, blew a big budget and counjured up a side who have spent almost an entire season in the bottom half.

Paul Cox got to be in the running?

I mean the style of play will end up being the downfall again but he really can pick out a good player, plus a team that will always put in 100% is a given.

The odds are based on just what fans are discussing on the forums generally, I'd pay no attention to them. Nobody wants Paul Cox as far as I can tell as we haven't got a million pound budget to give him like at Mansfield.

Sacking Wilkin means it will be at least another couple of years before Wrexham trouble the play off positions. Bad move.

Had a feeling you lot would 've been up there next year if you had given him another chance, at least up til' Xmas. Now you have to start all over again, with a different squad to this one, as the new man will want to bring in his players. We all know these things take time.

Or I could be wrong and things work out instantly.

I don't think we're looking for instant success. Most of us were looking for improvement this year with indications for a tilt at promotion next season.

We didn't see this; the football was both boring and ineffective.

Utterly ludicrous to suggest that it was anything other than a good move to get rid in my opinion. Their underachievement this season with that squad is heinous.

I'd stay away from Cox though - may do well initially but has a habit of upsetting the dressing room regularly so I hear.

Did I read that an ex-Dutch PL player had applied, or have I just made that up?

If so, Winston Bogarde's been sniffing around English jobs for a while.

His Chelsea contract must be up soon.

Kevin Russell latest name being talked about. Would like to see him back but he's never been a no.1, important as to who his assistant would be I think.

What names are in the hat?
Nothing certain but...
Paul Cox - Stated his interested in local paper, been to a few of our games last few weeks
Mark Yates - Seems to be having a lot of bets in him
Darren Ferguson - Be great to see him back here but more just a fan favorite then a realistic target
Craig Harrison - TNS manager, always linked with our job, but anybody could win the welsh league with TNS. NO Thanks
Dean Keates - Another one more wanted by fans, if he wants to stop playing who knows, not got the experience for me, assistant?
Andy Preece - Another welsh league manager who gets linked every time , not for me
Kevin "Rooster" Russell - Another one mainly put forward from fans, bit of a legend round here but never been a number 1

Those are just names being mention by fans though, My money would be on Craig Harrison, If he was appointed I can't think of a Wrexham fan that would be happy with that appointment, it just makes sense, Welsh, be cheap, Already took they're best coach (one of the highest qualified coaches in wales, currently caretaker manager) in Carl Darlington, We've took they're physio and they're best player in Sam Finely

David Mellor has that exact same barnet.

Got to keep Carl Darlington on in some capacity, such an impressive individual. I feel he would work better with an up and coming manager though rather than an experienced one. Frankly he knows loads more than the average manager even though he's a coach. Him and Russell would be pretty good I think.
