33.8 Home Grown Players. Each Club shall be required to nominate a minimum of seven Home Grown Players on their Team Sheet of Players for all League Competition Matches (including Play Off Matches).

Carabao Cup, EFL Trophy and FA Cup matches are exempt from the Home Grown quota.

33.9 ‘Home Grown Player’ shall mean a Player who irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with:-

33.9.1 his current Club; and/or

33.9.2 a Club and/or any other football club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales,

for a period, continuous or not of three Seasons or 36 months prior to his 21 birthday (or the end of the Season during which he turns 21). For the purposes of this definition of Home Grown Player only, a Season will be deemed to commence for all Clubs on the same date as the date on which the Summer Transfer Window in that Season closes for Clubs in Leagues One and Two, and expire on the date of the final League Match of the Season.

33.10 For the purposes of Regulation 33.9.2, but not otherwise, a Player who was at all times registered with a Club (or club) affiliated to the Football Association of Wales shall be treated as having been registered with a Club (or club) affiliated to The Football Association, and vice versa.

33.11 Club Developed Players. Subject to Regulation 33.12 each Club shall be required to nominate at least one Club Developed Player on their Squad List on each occasion that it is due for submission, or on their Team Sheet of Players for all League Competition Matches (including Play Off Matches). Where any Club does not name a Club Developed Player on the Team Sheet, that Club will only be permitted to name up to six substitutes on that League Team Sheet (rather than the seven as permitted by Regulation 33.4).

33.12 If any Club has prior to the date of the applicable League Competition Match (including Play Off Matches) transferred the registration of two or more Club Developed Players and:
33.12.1 in consideration for the transfer of each Club Developed Player’s registration, the Club receives an initial Transfer Fee, Compensation Fee and/or compensation in accordance with the Youth Development Rules on transfer of the registration; and
33.12.2 each of the transferred Club Developed Players:
(a) are, as at the date of the applicable Match registered as a Contract Player with a Club (or club) in the same division or higher (including, in the case of a Championship Club, the Premier League); and
(b) are or will be aged 24 or under on 1 January in the Season in which the applicable Match occurs,
then, the Club will not be required to comply with the requirements of Regulation 33.11.

Aye I can't think of anyone that gets out of it based on the above rules either?

Looking at our line ups all season at least one of Pollock or Clifton has been in every matchday squad until yesterday

Not yet!

The expected entry point for sanction on a first offence will be to treat the Club as having named (but not played) an ineligible player and this would ordinarily warrant a financial penalty.

Just off to check all your line-ups from earlier this season...

I'm not sure this is the right thread but we sure like discussing playing budgets on this forum don't we Conker? ;)

I did hear a couple of 'interesting'/'that's bollox' (delete where applicable) playing budget related stuff this morning but I don't believe every single thing I hear and nor should anybody else.

Anyway, I hear that Orient's P.B. this season is and I quote 'comfortably' a top 5 one. The other relates to Morecambe of all clubs, and my sauce tells me he believes they no longer have one of the smallest budgets in the division but more like a mid table one.

As to what I personally think, I think there's probably some truth in the Orient's claim but there's no way the Morecambe one is factual.

For this season. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there that never really believed the salary cap guff. There's a number of ways to go above the cap if one so desires. Same goes for most other things in life (financially speaking) every time there's some sort of cap/limit. Always has and always will be.

Agreed We made 5 signings before the cap came into place. Some big hitters for this league anyway.
Can see fees/wages offered to be significantly less this coming Summer

Bonuses weren't included if i recall correctly. That can make a huge difference.

In the interesting stat (or not) field.

Grimsby have 1/3 of their wins against Crawley this season.

I wonder why Crawley will not make the play offs?

Newports next two home games have been moved to Cardiff City:

Not sure how this will help their own pitch that well for the rest of the season, I'm just happy we don't need to play on it!

Home games v Bradford and Orient have been switched to the Cardiff City Stadium, then we revert back to RP from Scunthorpe on 27/03 onwards. Don't see the point really as Dragons have 3 home games this month so pitch is gonna be well and truly fucked for April's home games. Unless we carry on at CCS next month.

I’ve had enough of Newport bloody pitch, surely it comes to a point where it’s just unacceptable year on year in a professional league?

Wish they had moved to Cardiff before game against FGR.
We have lost 2 games out of 3 since then and all because of injuries picked up at Newport.

Cardiff city offered us a groundshare at xmas! which we were ready to accept, then the efl stepped in and refused us permission to do so saying the rodney parade pitch was at a well acceptable standard for l2 football, so dont blame the pitch for your injuries blame the efl.

For anyone interested the long-term solution for the groundshare is that one of the rugby teams, Newport RFC, moves away from RP to play its matches. That's what the Dragons are pushing for but this won't be easy as RP is Newport RFC's spiritual home. A lot of politics to resolve to achieve this. Until this happens we are just limping along.
At the moment we have a regional rugby franchise based in Newport, the Dragons, who nobody supports. It's not called Newport so nobody in Newport is behind it and likewise nobody in greater Gwent supports it as they play in Newport. Everyone is disenfranchised, all very parochial sadly.
The only glimmer is that this week the Blues rugby franchise who play out of Cardiff have cut the shit and called a spade a spade by returning to their proper name of Cardiff Rugby and will be playing in their traditional kit of blue and black. Precedent set therefore for the Dragons to become Newport Rugby and play in black and amber. Hope is that people of Newport will get behind the franchise so that the opposition to the semi-pro Newport RFC leaving RP will fade away.
That then leaves us to agree a long-term lease at RP, sharing with one rugby team just like Swansea, Bristol City etc and for another hybrid pitch to be laid, which should last a season with only County and Newport Rugby playing on it.
There are actually fewer games being played on RP this season because Newport RFC's season has been cancelled, however, the Dragons are desperate for money so agreed for Wales Women football and the Blues rugby to play last autumn, which wrecked an already fucked pitch. Had these extra games not been played then I doubt the pitch would be as bad as it is now.
Pitch should have been laid last summer in fairness as the existing hybrid surface was due to be replaced but was shelved due to Covid.
Couldn't agree more that the RP pitch is shit and not fit for purpose. Just surprised nobody has suffered a serious injury on it. While we take the Bradford and Orient games to Cardiff the Dragons will be playing 3 games at RP so the surface won't get any better. In fact, I will be surprised if its just the 2 games we will play at CCS this season. Our Scunthorpe home game can't be played at CCS as Wales are playing Mexico there that day.

I think the fact that you thought that was fishing shows how poorly you understand what it actually is!

Given there's no fans, why weren't Newport able to use Spytty Park? At least you'd still be in Newport for home games.
