Why did Everton hire Martinez in the first place? If they hire Moyes, we'll be saying the same thing.
Because Billy took more notice of the FA Cup win than he did the relegation that winning the cup directly contributed to.

Ahh yeah, Billy. Huh, Billy. Billy should have done his research and noticed that there are 1000 better managers out there.

He's full on trolling now. Tim Howard will be in goal for our last 2 home games

The disrespect these evertonians have shown towards classy manager is disgusting. Not long ago he was the new Guardiola. A new shady owners changed their mind so quick.

Some of the stuff he's had against him is slightly over the top, but as a club Everton are underachieving, you can't deny that. They are a team that should be fighting for Europe, not stuck in mid-table.

I see Sanchez Flores may well not have a job at Watford next season. Everton could do far worse.

He has a different style of play it's fair to say.

Very defence minded and plays a narrow formation.

Sounds like Moyes. I do like Flores but hope Everton aim higher than him

He is a very genuine bloke and I think deserves another season with us after a solid season but the football and results have gone downhill somewhat since Christmas (think its 3 or 4 wins since then)

It might be unfair to blame Flores though - Ighalo for example has played like somebody with his mind elsewhere.

Trouble is the Pozzos like to see younger players played who potentially have some sort of re-sale value.

Really gone out of hands now. This is bullying. Everton fans are really classless. Feel sorry for Martinez.

Seriously a Liverpool fan should not call Everton fans classless after the number of managers they have hounded out.

Keep Martinez on and, with the way things are going, I think they could be a shock relegation contender next season.

With the money in the league now and the potential of that squad there'd be no shortage of decent candidates being interested in the job. I think the fans who are expecting Mourinho should probably set their sights elsewhere though.

Everton just need a good manager. Good managers can play a number of different ways. There was a great tweet about Arsenal the other day which said "trying to play a possession game only is like playing rock, paper, scissors with just a rock." I don't think it was necessarily fair on Arsenal as we've played the counter-attack, and a pressing game, to great effect a few times this season and last, but Martinez is even more inflexible than Wenger. He's seen as an idealist, but he's basically incompetent. There might still be a good manager in Moyes but he's failed in his last two jobs and is damaged goods. I'm not certain Rodgers is much better than Martinez. I don't really know who's on the market so I can't help out, soz.

Rodgers is at least far more willing to abandon his principles than Martinez!

And today's game shows why Martinez' principles are fundamentally flawed. Really hope he's gone at the end of the season

He's lost the players too I think.

Yes, I think the players no longer believe in him. There is nothing wrong in having a playing philosophy but it needs to develop and change with circumstances. There does not seem to be anything in Martinez's ideas to stopping the opposition.

To a certain extent I can sympathise with Martinez. A new manager would be taking charge of a side with Stones, Barkley, Galloway, Robles, Deulofeu, Lukaku etc. Martinez has phased these young players in, and eased out the likes of Pienaar, Osman, Hibbert, Howard (to a certain extent...). The team is now pretty young and exciting.

Unfortunately that doesn't excuse his abysmal tactics. Young players will make mistakes, but they don't have to make as many as his approach allows. I really like him and he did great things with Wigan - where he had them playing lovely stuff and was really unlucky to go down after a season of catastrophic injuries - but he's done as a manager unless he accepts that you need to be flexible and can't just play one way. It'd be a shame if he didn't come back from this.

Martinez had the same problem with us for the first 2 and a half years, whilst we dominated possession in nearly every game and had a lot more shots than our opponents, one of the highest in the league, we failed to convert chances and were punished on the counter attack. He then switched to 3 at the back with wing backs. That had such a huge effect, the extra body at the back allowed the full backs to push forward and then the defence not to be outnumbered on counters and suddenly we're keeping clean sheet after clean sheet. For 15+ games we were the best side in the league and had a spell where we won home and away against the top 5 pretty much in a row. The season we went down we started well, top half, looked like we were finally going to have the season that our performances had threatened in previous seasons. Then we lost our 3 best centre halfs to season long injuries, followed by our left wing back in the second half of the season and our keeper needing a shoulder operation in October forced to play with painkillers till we got Robles in, in February and a defensive midfielder broke his leg. So to blame Martinez for our relegation is wrong. The worst injury crisis I've seen in 20+ years of following football.

So to me it's a surprise that Martinez has abandoned the 3 at the back policy with wing backs, especially as Coleman can't defend and as good a defender as Baines is, he likes to push forward and creates so many chances. It would give them more freedom and stop them being outnumbered at the back and as a result conceding so many soft goals.

One other thing, as good as Everton's strongest 11 is, the back up players are dreadful. Can anyone really suggest Everton have a stronger squad than any of the top 9 teams? I think the squad as a whole is 10th best, which is were they could very well end up. Along with two great cup runs, is not as bad a season as has been suggested. Yes a disappointing season but not exactly to Chelsea's extremes.

Is your sole contribution to this board to get a rise out of people? Are you that boring?

I also agree that Everton taking Moyes back would be beneficial to the club.
