Oh well, would have taken a point before hand away at one of the three big spending favourites.

Sounded better in the second half with much more attacking intent from us, but we are certainly missing a goalscorer, otherwise plenty more 0-0s to come.
You didn’t really create clear chances for a goalscorer to put away.

You came for a point and got it - neither team are going to be in the auto promotion mix based on that.

I think it'll be classic Hurstball and either 0-0 or 1-0 to Grimsby.

Grimsby did what Notts did to Wrexham last night. Park the bus, ugly but got a creditable away draw.

The difference was we were missing both first choice wing backs, our two best centre halves and our only striker with any physical presence. They paid us far too much respect.

We need to improve and we need a top striker if Quigley is out for long. Even if he's out for a short period, we need a better option than Alex Reid.

That disallowed goal summed up the refs performance. Weak as piss, there’s absolutely no way that gets disallowed if it’s Madden in front of the home end, no chance.

I mean it does but okay.

I’d be more pissed off with Hurst misreading the room and coming for a 0-0 against an average team like ourselves who were missing key players and completely unbalanced.

It looked a nothing challenge, Keane misjudged and just got a little bump. Bit like the other night, ref shat it when it turned out he'd actually stroked it home. If he'd gone and blazed it over he would have let it go. That's refs at this level to be honest.

It’s worked out nicely, on another night we lose that game. However when you watch the highlights back you’ll see that it’s never a foul, even the linesman was comically bad.

Stockport fans saying we should have gone for it because you had absentees need to appreciate two things.

1). We didn't train for 10 days before Thursday last week and played on Saturday.

2). Hursty's gonna Hurst.

I thought it was soft on first look but I’m just not having it that it was anti Grimsby thing and it would have been any different at the other end.

On a positive note, 6,452 there tonight. Great following from Grimsby and a good turnout from us. Great to see fans back in the grounds. Great attendance that for a Tuesday night.

Put it this way, I don't think the threat of Covid is keeping many people away across the board is it? If anything, more seem to be going as they've missed it so much. I know I'm in that camp.

We were certainly better in the second half but a draw was probably fair, Stockport certainly made more chances, with only one stonewall in each half they should have put away. Didn’t agree with the starting team with not starting Pearson, Fox and Sousa, made no sense. Hunt is a bit of a passenger atm and Revan looks like a kid in adults team, hopefully they improve. As said, we grew into the game but without a striker we’re going to struggle to score more than one a game. I’m still certain that the goal should have been allowed, anywhere else on the pitch and play carries on. Alright game with a good crowd though!

Early signs that Pearson and Waterfall will be rotated like I thought they would be.

Back home after the match (it's a fair drive down to Shropshire, and we allowed all the traffic to bugger off before leaving the car park).

Not too sure how we didn't go in at half-time two down, Stockport very unlucky not to have put a couple of golden chances away.

Second half we were a lot better, but apart from the disallowed goal we didn't really create much.

0-0 a fair result and 1,200 or so of us left the ground a lot happier than the locals.

What the hell has happened to Castle Street? It was never 'posh', but bloody hell it's awful now. The missus and I only wanted a coffee but we walked the length of it and turned around, nothing looked clean enough to make us fancy having one, don't fancy Weil's Disease having managed to avoid Covid so far!

Also I think they need to appreciate that after:-

- 20 years of John Shelton Fenty including just finding out he gets first dibs on any transfer income to pay off his "loans" early;
- the most effective "Destroy and Exit" job that any manager has delivered in a half-season from Holloway;
- almost a completely new team for the nth season running,

we are snatching the hand off of the nil-nil draw at Stockport. Now we just need to avoid that Barnet at Blundell banana skin and it will have been a great week...

So ended up being a classic Hurst job last night, go away play for the clean sheet and hope to nick something. Shame the first half we didn't attack a bit more and have some belief though.

Though the commentators did say Hurst and Doig were trying to tell the players to push forward, but instead of being a 3-5-2 the players were defaulting to 5-3-2 and being forced back by Stockport.

I know it's early and we only started training on Thursday I hope this rotation doesn't carry on. After the second half it sounded like if we had the creative wingers in Sousa and Wright playing we could have won that. Also Pearson coming on the commentators said he was much better and calmer at distributing the ball from the back, so hopefully he doesn't keep rotating him out. Still too early to judge on Taylor but LJL sounds like he is holding the ball up better than him and bringing others into play as well. ( Though that is obviously harsh on Taylor when we spend the whole first half in our half)

Reven sounded poor but obviously hard to judge from the radio and Hunt sounds exactly like I feared, good technically but so lightweight he is going to be useless in the conference, especially if the likes of Stockport are bullying him of the ball what's he going to do when playing real non league cloggers? Unfortunately for him probably playing two divisions to low to show his real talent.

Anyhow a good point at this stage of the season even if Stockport think we won't have a better chance of beating them. Hurst always goes away and plays for the clean sheet first, it's what he does and with only a few days training, new squad and against one of the favourites it wasn't going to change last night.

Judging by the first half and the few decemt chances created it was certainly a case of two points dropped for Stockport rather than us.

Don’t think he said anything about it being an anti Grimsby thing. It was more of a big game and a home v away team type of decision.

1. Your players trained in isolation, like ours did a few weeks ago.
2. He's your manager, you knew what you were going to get before you re-appointed him.

It's really pathetic how yourselves, Notts, Wrexham and Stockport are fighting to out-do each other with the most excuses whenever you fail to win. It is what it is and you are where you are. :ds:

I disagree with Hunt, I thought he had a much better game than Saturday and is already looking better. A few nice passes in behind really helped us finally get forward in the second half.

Revan on the other hand was so bad it was untrue, for an 18 year old left back he has absolutely no pace whatsoever, no strength either. In fact, I didn’t see one redeeming feature that suggests he’d be up to playing men’s football.

Live on telly, bring it on. Oh no wait we lose every live game. Balls.
We actually won every game we played on TV last season. Scoring 12 times in 3 games. Sounds like a home win to me.

Even in your world of sub-par to mediocre windups, you can't be suggesting that training in isolation is an adequate replacement for training as a squad?

I don't know what your point is regarding me knowing what we were getting with Hurst? Yeah, of course I know. We've got the best manager in the division.

That must also be the third or fourth time you've mentioned or alluded to being above us and/or other BELTs in the last ten hours. Therefore, on behalf of Botherhood member club Grimsby Town, I'd like to offer our warmest congratulations to plucky non-Brotherhood minnows FC Halifax Town for being us above us on 1st September having played a match more than us. Well done my friend, enjoy being above us for what I assume is the first time in your club's short and completely non-league lifespan.
