Well, that was abysmal.
But we aren't going to finish our obligatory 8th this season, no way.
We will probably finish 9th when Notts and Grimsby overtake us
How'd the new boys get on today?

Christ that was frustrating. That game was what I'd been warning people about, they look at the table and think it's a guaranteed thrashing, but whilst Dover may lose every week they rarely get battered, and we saw why, they're just designed to soak up pressure. First half was a little cagey but once they went down to ten men, the entire game devolved into attack practise. We were doing all the right things but there was always a last-ditch block or interception, ball goes loose and we try again. Literally 90% of that second half was spent around their box, but we just couldn't get shots away. It feels daft to celebrate a late 1-0 win due to the relative positions, but anybody watching that would've felt the frustration & understood the relief when we finally scored.

Our set up is an absolute disgrace for that winner, got Wootton and Cameron our two biggest players in the wall for a free kick that was always going to be a cross and fucking Roberts marking their centre half. No wonder Cal went absolutely mental at the bench after it.

I’ve noticed a common theme here, Notts winner against us at BP, they celebrate it with the Notts fans.
Wrexham winner against us the other week and Palmer celebrates it with the Wrexham fans.
We get the winner today and celebrate it with the GTFC fans.
That’s what proper clubs do, celebrate with your own fans just like you always should instead of goading the opposition fans instead for no reason whatsoever, other than just to be complete bell-ends.
Please take note Bromley, Maidenhead etc.

Enjoyed the Grimsby fans singing ‘on the pitch, if we score’, when the 90th minute free kick was awarded.

Didn’t enjoy it so much when you actually scored. The only consolation was no-one actually went on.

Being reffed out of it again as well

If it was the same Ajibola who has reff'd at NLS level this season, then I can only believe that the Conference committee had run out of refs for NL level for today's fixtures. I've seen him ref many games at Longmead (Tonbridge Angels) and the man is an absolute clown. One of those who think the crowd have turned up just to watch him.

It's the same one. He was due to ref the Dover v Notts Co game but he called it off because it was too wet for him
he's doing Wealdstone v Yeovil on Tuesday.

You’re getting Burchnall’d out of it!

Some "easier" fixtures in our next 4 including the bottom two so we really should be kicking on, depends if Southend are actually improving or have just played Dover every week like Stockport recently

Larkhall, Grimsby in the Trophy and two games against Dover Athletic? This record will forever have an asterisk against it

It's ok. Not like you've spent 1million on players for this season or anything

Was a frantic match though that could have gone either way. Wootton must have had an off day as he is exactly as I remembered him. Thought Roberts did indeed look quality though. Took his goal very well, one of those ones were I just knew he was sticking the ball away as soon as he brought it forward. Again though, for all our pressure we didn't carve out too many big chances.

Will have to see the pen decision again as it looked soft but not as mental as everyone in here is suggesting. Thought he barged McAtee (?) over zealously to win the ball. One of those seen-them-given ones on first view from the away end, for me.

Think I agree it could have gone either way, even after you equalised we had a good spell, got in some great positions, Crocombe kept 2/3 out. One free kick was in a very similar position to where you scored from, Roberts whipped it in, some got a touch but Crocombe made a good save and then scrambled it away. Another hit him in the face. I thought it looked like one team would win it at that point tbh, even though that would have been harsh on you, and thought Hurst was happy with a point, even took McAtee off. Then one loose ball from us, Lacey commits a daft foul, Grimsby free kick, goal. Grimsby maybe getting the rub of the green you’ve been missing for a while, although not one Notts fan would begrudge you the points.

Still think the penalty was a shocker though!

Penalty was a shocker. Grimsby deserved the win. Our second half display was pathetic, as was last weeks effort at Bromley.

Played well today in a tightly contested game against a good team who have beaten some of the better sides in the division, and will do again before the season is out.

That's much more than I and a few others expected after the last couple of weeks. Maybe something has improved around the club now Rowe is no longer around.

Tuesday night looks pretty huge...would definitely take a draw.

Course he can. Well you can't have Wild now can you ;)
Some of you lot were really shitting yourselves that we were gonna nick him weren’t you?

Ah well, lack of ambition from the bloke.

Anyway it was quite weird seeing somebody who is on my Spotify playlist play football against my team today. Dag’num fans who was your left sider? He looked handy.

Notts County board trying to scour LinkedIn for a fit masseuse in the Nottinghamshire area.

Problem is I reckon Burchnall's still a virgin and won't rise to the bait at all.

I just can't wait to find out if there's a 'shall we go for Rowe?' thread on their fans forum yet.

We switch wingers up a bit, Weston and Ling started. Saunders came on could have been him, skinny lad.

Nah, you’re alright.

Will take Danny Webb though. Looks like he was the brains all along

Apart from me they all want to stick with him. I'd get Paul Cook in tomorrow.
Rowe seems like a basket case of a man but he does know how to get a team up and running.

We'd all get Cook in tomorrow to be fair. Rowe will have you grinding out results week after week. Are you desperate enough to hire him yet? Absolutely not. County still get a handy playoff position, but having just listened to Burchnalls post match interview, I'd certainly want my manager to be angrier than that after losing that game. Rowe, horrible man by all accounts, but after a loss (and there weren't many) he could hardly get any words out between his gritted teeth. You need an element of that for me

To be honest yes. All jokes aside you are a bigger club than we are and the football project probably goes beyond anything we can offer.

However well he has done with us. He's still a novice manager and I imagine success is pretty much on the mantra their. If he didnt deliver it a sacking at a national league club wouldn't look too good on his cv moving forward for a league job.

He will move on with our blessings in the summer or the end of his contract and he will manage in the football league next and we will count our lucky stars if we get anyone close to his calibre to follow his example

Pound for pound. Given the budgets available Wild Is one of if not the best in the league.
