Well that's us out of the top five, doubt we will trouble it again this year

Halfax now lead 3-1.

What is it with Alty?

Always struggle against the weaker sides but have an uncanny ability to raise their game against the top sides.

Cheltenham immediately equalise.

Braintree are just bizarre, they were so so terrible against us, unbelievably so. Every inch relegation fodder.

2-2 at the Ewe Camp.

I'm not confident about getting anything at Dover so a loss tonight could have led to 4 losses on the trot. Draw probably fair.

Well its look like Kiddy are trying their damn hardest to claim another Conference record. Most games without a win. Thats 19 now I think since a 3-1 win v Braintree last season. Telford hold the record at 30.

How good to Cheltenham have to be to get a decent attendance? Admittedly midweek, but only a few over 2k.

Torquay and Kidderminster as a bottom two. What a terrible state of affairs, really. I genuinely feel for both, the situations must be gutwrenching at the minute, the poor bastards.

Three points away for us with the game in hand now, I'd regard that as a half-decent outcome for us tonight.

As much as I'm disappointed we conceded an equaliser, I'd have taken that before the game. I'd definitely have taken it when we went 1-0 down! Sounded like a proper derby game - fans in fine voice, commitment on the pitch... good stuff!

Seen Braintree twice in the league this season plus a pre season game, get to see them a fourth time next week v Dover. My opinions might be skewed as I've seen them pick up a point v Barrow and lose to Guiseley. In all honesty I think they're short of the play offs. They have a very mediocre team with a couple of real quality players for this level, especially Simeon Akinola who I think is a real talent. Alex Woodyard ran the show v Guiseley, I know we wanted him at Orient but given the inevitability of the Jack Payne signing we cooled our interest.

Take the point and move on. Especially going behind so early and fighting back. Bit of a shame to concede another late goal, but can't grumble given their home form. 5 points from the away games at Grimsby, Cheltenham and Wrexham? I'd have taken that before they started.

Also, Kiddy? WTF. You almost had it!!

Felt like when we used to play in the league off the pitch, old school atmosphere under the lights. However it was certainly a Non League match on it, thought it was a poor game in terms of quality and yet even with a dummy in our goal we could still have pinched it towards the end.

Another game where we outplayed the opposition but could've chucked it away. Chester looked a good side, but scored two goals from maybe no more than 4 attempts on goal. We had a lot of the attacking play and were let down by another mistake from our young keeper Dixon. Not convinced by him yet, but a lot of people rate him based on one performance against us last season.

Absolute belter of a goal from Cowperthwaite to win it, and Andy Cook continues to be a force - if he's sold in January, we'll probably go down.
Into the top half, where we should be finishing up.

Just back in from Barrow 3 Chester 2
Barrow could have been 3 up in 10 minutes, but then the obvious happened and Chester went 1 up after 30 mins with a well taken breakaway goal from the number 11 Chapell, unfortunately for Chester that woke Barrow up and 5 mins later a Symington 25 yarder came back off the left hand post, Howarth smacked the rebound in the opposite corner from 18 yards. So half time 1-1.
Barrow scored 2 minutes into the 2nd half when Chester decided not to put a man within 5 yards of Andy Cook from a corner and he smashed it into the net from the left hand side of the box.
Chester equalised after 72 mins when Shaw managed to scramble the ball home after a Dixon save.
Chester didn't learn from the 1st time they scored and 5 minutes later conceded again....
It's been a long time since Barrow won a game through a 35 yard Cowpethwaite screamer - not since the old warhorse Colin used to play up front for us - but this was his son Niall - who picked the ball up just inside the Chester half took it on 10-15 yards and smacked it in the right hand corner

Typical derby game. Reasonable atmosphere, little quality if we're being honest and a fair result.

Your tone is slightly different to the one you're using on the Tranmere forum...
Sorry? Not sure I get you?

I was impressed by Dawson, your winger. Great player to be honest. Only player I'd have thought off you.

I didn't think it was a bad game, maybe lacked slightly in quality but reasonably entertaining. Shame we sat back too deep towards the end which cost us two points. Thought we had the better chances whereas Wrexham dominated possession second half so a draw a fair result overall.

Decent atmosphere which'll hopefully be replicated for the reverse fixture next year.

Went to cheltenham game as a neutral tonight. Thought cheltenham looked pretty good, but lack a quality striker. I genuinely have no idea why Braintree are where they are, bang on average conference side.

Another thing, I couldn't believe how quiet the cheltenham fans were. 7-1 win on the weekend, chance to go top, and it felt like a pre season!

Good night all in all, with some late drama in the final stages! Thought akinola looked quality, I don't think he'll stay at braintree too much longer

Hugely relieved with that result.

One bogey side in Altrincham beaten, what are the chances of doing the same against another bogey side in Woking?

Fur flying on the Fishy...did you have faith or were you a non-believer [in Hurst's selection for tonight].

Me, I'm an atheist, I don't think Hurst exists, I think it's Synth controlled by Alan Buckley, who thinks Tomlinson is reincarnation of Tony Rees (in joke for the over 40s Town fans)

Quite good. We're in a poor run of form at the moment, there won't be a better time to play us this season (I hope). I'm anticipating it clicking again for us at some point. Hopefully it's on Saturday.

I'm not so sure. We're still poor, despite that win. We haven't beaten you yet (since our return) and you were the only side to beat us at home the play off season!
