In!

Have to say I think pricing Goffin the same as Nadal and Federer is a bit optimistic! :dk:

Hence I didn't go for Goffin. :bg:

Edmund's continuing his shit hard court form.

He's had a surprisingly poor post Wimbledon.

So after the first round of games I am now 1st in the men’s, and 4th overall.. happy with that.

Also the group, albeit only 3 of us is 1st overall.

You're smashing it. Mine started alright but is starting to go wrong. Tsitipas out is annoying. Thought he'd go far. A lot of these guys excel in masters best of 3 and go out early in best of 5. Very tricky to pick.

Been following it a lot this season, tsispas has been in good form but so has medvedev.. I had them both!

I've been following it too. I was very wary of Medvedev but thought in a straight fight between them both Tsitipas would have just a little too match.

Fair play for putting them both in, my gamble didn't work.

I'm always rubbish at choosing the 2-3 rubbish ones at the back end of the list. Always trying to spot that bargain that gets to round 3 or 4 but never manage to pick them haha.

To be fair, I looked at the first round match ups but not beyond.. be just my luck all my picks play each other now!

End of the British interest in the singles then - sounds like Murray played well but Verdasco was even better .

Another strange incident in a Nick Kyrgios match.

The umpire giving a little pep talk!

http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=24525272
Are umpires allowed to do that?!

I love nick, he’s such a talented player but he’s really been struggling with injuries this year, but he battles through the pain. I would of put him in my dream team if it wasn’t for that.

I remember watching a match he was in last month against kudla, he was really struggling and was facing several break points in the second set.. he was firing down 2nd serve aces at break point, I’m sure he did it when facing match point too. He ended up winning the match somehow, never seen anything like it.

Roger Federer is out of the US open in the fourth round after getting beat by John Millman in 4 sets. What a shame:D

Del Potro looking good for a win against an injured Nadal?

If he did win would it be the longest gap between winning grand slams ?

I had Osaka in my team and took her out at the last minute for Katsakina. :hb:

Don't have a Serena type meltdown!

She does seem to be getting a lot of support on Twitter from players so maybe the umpire involved is a problem but still cannot react like that and calling him a thief.

Really took away from Osaka glory...

I have a smidgeon of sympathy for her about the first violation. If that’s coaching then it happens so consistently and punished so rarely that it must be frustrating as hell to get called for it. It’s also an incredibly dumb rule.

The second and third violations were no brainers. It’s normal to get a code violation for a racket smash. I’ve seen that happen literally hundreds of times. And calling a match official a “liar” and a “thief’ is as good as calling him corrupt, which is perhaps the most egregious thing you can say to an official in any sport.

The second and third violations probably don’t happen without the first, but ultimately she’s responsible for her behaviour. Kinda sad (but not surprising) to see her play the victim card and spin her shitty behaviour as fighting for equality. Very sad to see Osaka look so sad when it should have been the happiest moment of her career to date.

Serena Williams is a c*nt. No doubt about it. All of the accusations were fair in the letter of the law.

I'm all for feminism but this is now clutching at straws.

The way the crowd booed Osaka too & Williams' reaction at the ceremony was absolutely pathetic.

Time to retire Williams - Tennis doesn't need people like you.

It was Williams thinking she's above the rules again. Fair play to the umpire I say. You can't be calling an official a cheat. Pretty sure you are able to get sent off in football for that and you'd definitely be sent off in rugby for it.

Djokovic makes it 14 slams then, equal with Sampras and will clearly overtake him now. Just a question of whether he can catch Federer, I can't see it.

I'm glad I wasn't the only person thinking this yesterday. A quick look on twitter and virtually every article written about the match had a "Serena was a bit wrong but her comments were valid" narrative, which just isn't true.

Its painful watching all the Osaka interviews following her win. Every question is about Serena's meltdown and not her brilliant performance.

My gf is very much up for jumping on the back of all these feminism movements and call outs in the media/public and this was the first one she has ever said "that's absolute bollocks"

She sent me a good article this morning that you'll probably like

Davis Cup time again without the big 2.

Dan Evans had a good win against the top ranked Uzbekistan player but Norrie undid all that by losing a 2 set lead against the World 434!
