Can't see a thread yet for tomorrow's match so thought that I would make one. Thoughts? Predictions?

Millwall haven't had a great start by any means but look like they're much better away from home than at the Den which is unfortunate for us. Still, the players should be brimming with confidence after bouncing back from the unfortunate defeat to Bradford and a very average performance in the tin pot cup against Carlisle in style, and a further 3 points here could see us looking pretty in the table.

Personally, I'd like to see Innis come back into the side in place of Streete to deal with Morison, who I believe to be a physical player. That's not that Remi Streete can't handle himself but Ryan Innis is a man mountain and gives us a huge aerial presence in both boxes. Other than that go as we were last time out.

Agree with this ColB, Inniss adds that extra stability.

As for the game, need to keep our feet grounded despite superb performances in general this season, Millwall won't be easy and will be confident but then we have been superb at home and should fancy winning the game. I wanted 4 points from the 2 games at home but now we have 3 against arguably the tougher game on paper is it too greedy to want the 6!

Could do with a result to set us up for the 2 away games.

3-1 Vale Uche, Andoh and Dodds

Milwall have had a bit of a dodgy start to the season but easily beat Crewe last time out. Time will tell whether that was just because Crewe are so poor but we should be confident going into the game. Milwall have got a young side so will still be developing -let's hope we can knock their confidence early.

I'd also go with Innis in there purely from a physical point of view and the rest of the team picks itself really.

We have very rarely got 6 points from a Saturday/Tuesday home game combo so a draw wouldn't be the worst result in the world but I'm hoping for a 2-1 Vale.

My heart say's 2-1 Vale but head say's 1-1, with Andoh netting his first goal for us. If we get at them from the off and get in front then I'd really expect us to go on to win the game quite comfortably. We do need to be a bit more clinical, though. Even when Wigan pulled one back on Saturday we had a couple of very good chances to to go two further ahead again before they equalized, and it very nearly cost us 2 points.

If we were clinical we'd be top of the league with a draw (v Swindon) and five wins! That said we've scored a few goals at home.

If you had a draw and five wins you would have sixteen points and you would be second.
We have seventeen.
Just saying.

I wonder where you'd be without that Bradley Dack though? That's not to say you don't have other good players. But Doug Loft woudn't get anywhere near our first 11 now with the midfielders we've got, yet was one of the first names on the team-sheet during his time at Vale. If he (Dack) keeps on netting you'll do well to keep hold of him during the next transfer window.

Forgot we had played a game less and knew you'd drew 2.

We do have a very young and energetic squad and we have good players throughout the side.
You are right though, Dack would be a massive loss.
He will go eventually, we all know that, but hopefully not this season.
Good luck anyway, because I have had a cheeky little e/w bet on you guys at triple figure odds.

Dack is getting the plaudits and rightly so, but we've only let in 4 in 7 thanks to our fantastic centre back options, and have 3 or 4 other excellent players who we will do well to keep hold of in Houghton, Jackson and Josh Wright, who has been an inspired bit of business. Our forwards haven't fired at all this season yet (although Norris has been unfortunate - 5 times he's hit post or bar!), but we're spreading the goals around a bit

Credit to Vale too though, sounds like you're a goalscorer away from being a top side.

Hopefully we'll both be around the play-off spots come the end of the season. There's no team to really fear in League One, and there's quite a few sides that could be there or there abouts if they have a bit of luck with injuries/suspensions etc. For us we'd be buggered if Ikpeazu gets injured. Up front is by far our weakest area of the squad and we're keeping our fingers crossed that Ikpeazu stays fit and keeps on scoring and recent signing JJ Hooper can make the step up sooner rather than later.

If you keep do keep Dack this season then you'll be right up there. He'll probably go through a period where the ball isn't dropping for him and he's not netting every week, but he's far too good a player for this league.

I'm just unsure how good Milwall actually are? Even their fans don't seem to know which one will turn up. a couple of games ago they were protesting outside the ground and saying Harris was out of his depth. Surely they'll still have some quality from the Championship? It's a really difficult one to call.

Josh Wright is two Bob. That he is the gold standard in div 3 at time of writing shows just how poor this league is and how badly run us, and a fair few other sides in this division, are.

It'd be nice to get a win but I don't expect Port Vale will be anywhere near as poor as Crewe were on Saturday. Col B has pretty much already determined that we don't have enough quality to go up against an in form Vale side so just hope the lads are up for what is undoubtedly our cup final.

Don,t buy this Millwall have had a dodgy start , if they win tomorrow they go above us. 7 points from 9 away from home and let,s remember they were Championship past few years. This is a game a lot of Vale fans think is a gimmee, unfortunately it is far from that and our record in League games at night is shocking of late. That said I am hopeful of 3 points after Saturdays great performance, Millwall come on back of a stroll at Crewe which isn,t difficult though we contrived to get a 0-0 when everyone else is scoring 3 against them week in week out. As previous poster said I,d like to see Inness back and that is no slight on Streete but as Page seems to think Duffy is a definite starter it leaves the 2 young lads fighting for the other spot. Be a gate of 4500 maybe and I don,t know what more the lads can do as the football is really entertaining. Tranmere had 1000 more than us on Saturday in non league albeit a local derby with Chester. That is the only disappointment so far the ' missing' 1000 or so fans, where have they gone ?

Find this post a little strange.
No-one has said that Josh Wright is "the gold standard in div 3".

And as far as I can see Col B predicted a 1-1 draw and said that Millwall are better away than at home this season.

Butt hurt or what?

We are in form in regards to our results and performances at Vale Park. I also mentioned that your team were doing well away from home, which is why I don't expect an easy game whatsoever. We certainly won't be Crewe, that much I do know for sure.

There's really no need to post with such sarcasm. For the record I don't think any normal Vale fan thinks this will be a stroll. Millwall undoubtedly have some talent in their squad having just come down and apparently played well on Saturday (even against a terrible Crewe side). We also tend to burst the bubble of optimism with a terrible performance just when things are looking up, so I'm always wary of that.

6 points out of 2 home games is always a tall order and so I wouldn't be devastated with a point. We have, however, got to feel confident with the way we are playing against a young Millwall side. I have a feeling if we get our noses in front early we will win.

No it's OK, it was just lower league over-compensation-desperately-to-trying-to-veil-inferiority-complex. I can relate, I've been there. I am here. It's shit.

Alternatively, if I wanted to take you to task I wouldn't be taking the piss, I'd hound you into an argument and never fucking let up, but then apparently all humour has to be accompanied by emojis orelsehowwesposedtoknow(!?!)

I agree re. the Crewe point and reckon you should be looking to win.

Still early in the league season, mind. Hoping rather than expecting for all three points. Everything's very speculative at this stage. A point in any other circumstance would be a good result but our home form is so unbelievably poor that we have to be the inverse of the 'win your home games' philosophy just to maintain parity.

The type of game that we always lose after a good win.

We balls up a few chances to break the top six last season (Chesterfield Away, Swindon Home) good examples so it will be a good yardstick of how far mentally this side may have come for me. We've been pretty consistently very good at home (not too shabby away bar Bradford) and whilst early season if we can get to 12 points (almost a quarter of the way to safety) after 7 games then maybe we are made of sterner stuff this season.

Our problem this season is the one thing we don't have is established league one players.
We have a combination of woefully out of form Championship level players and inconsistent kids. That means that we are either going to be very good or absolutely dire every game. Trying to guess which will turn up is nigh on impossible. I'd guess we'd likely line up the same as vs Crewe, possibly with Nelson missing out through injury.

I'm guessing it'll be a comfortable win either way followed by much wringing of hands by the loser and the winners crowing about having the best GK/CB/ST in the division (all of which would be bollocks).

Morison is physical, but he's not a target man like a Hanson. More of a powerful runner with deceptive pace. Picking massive centre halves against him tends to work less effectively than a more mobile player.

To be fair Inniss isn't a slouch, we kept out Burnley and WBA (for 2 hours) with him in the side so why he missed out Saturday is anyone's guess, although from having a shocking defence last season we now have three top quality center halves to pick from for a rare change!
