I can't see us going as a flat 4-4-2 now so I think it's set-up to be a diamond.

Farman
Wood - Waterfall - Brown - Beevers
Stanley
Sparrow - Power
Muldoon
Rhead - Hearn

Maybe Nolan for Sparrow or something. Or Beevers at CB for Brown and Bush to LB.
Changed slightly from the above post.

Most Lincoln fans could correctly guess 9 of the starting XI and I think we'll go into next weekend with:

Farman
Wood - Waterfall - Howe - Beevers
Sparrow - Stanley - Power
Muldoon - Rhead - Simmons

Or, if we go 4-4-2 diamond it'll be Hearn for Simmons I imagine.

----York---------------Gray ------------------Vose-----

With Carrington and Adam Smith not featuring due to injury, this has emerged as our strongest line up to start the season. Dominic Vose has done better there than playing centrally. Wes York is on fire, so watch out. Vidal a revelation in deep midfield with on loan Stoke right back Watkins Clark clattering into anyone who dares venture up his side of the pitch. . Contrary to popular Wrexham fan opinion, Jennings is playing well in that midfield role. Gray looking good up front competing away and wining free kicks. The bromance continues with Hudson and Manny Smith at the back. Add in Newton and a couple of short arse fatty men and what you have there is the best starting 11 in non-league football history.

Tait - Pearson - Nsiala - Robertson
Arnold - Disley - Clay - Monkhouse
Bogle - Amond

I'd suspect something like this although it's literally a guessing game regarding our most effective starting XI with East, Gowling, Mackreth, Brown and even Pittman all easily good enough to be in there. You could ask me this again in 5 minutes and I'd probably name a different team.
I think he will go with Amond and Pittman first game with Bogle coming off the bench second half, just that they have played a lot more than Bogle in pre-season due to the little knock he picked up.

This our best team or starting line-up for next week?
If the latter, can't see Robertson starting as he has missed most of pre-season, can also see Gowling starting ahead of Nsiala now, Bogle probably won't start either due to being injured, think it will be Pittman or Arnold partnering Amond, and if its Arnold, Marshall will start on the wing.

Pretty solid team, a very well balanced midfield. Think we are probably a good winger away from a top 5 side.

Yeah I've not kept up to date with injuries so the team on Saturday will obviously be slightly different to this, but once we're settled into the season I think this will be the team we use the most. The biggest question mark for me is Gowling or Nsiala. Monkhouse or Mackreth isn't much easier either and I forgot we even had Marshall for a second.

Yeah, signing that Rochdale winger on loan indicates that Mills feels the same. Not match fit at the moment apparently, but we'll have to see how he progresses. We've obviously got Adam Smith to come in when he's fit. Halifax fans say he was a bit shit last season, but playing with some proper footballers might help him recapture the form of 2 years ago.

Expect us to line up something like this, although we do look a bit undermanned in midfield given that we could well be using 2 fairly lightweight wingers. Arnold will probably be back in goal once he's fit, and the likes of Pipe and Kamdjo could well come in if AP wants to stiffen the midfield. Marsh-Brown has been struggling a bit for match fitness and so Guthrie or Sam-Yorke might get the nod initially, but long term he's a nailed on starter imo.

Hadn't you better sign some then?

We've got football brains all over the pitch. The National League Mensa. Even Wes York looks like he knows what he's doing.

Would imagine Beckles keeping his place at CB and MBH starting if fit (unless we sign Harrad I reckon)

Until Saturday I was certain that it was going to be Saville and Oliver, but Beckles' impressive pre season has given Barry Smith a big decision to make.

As for Harrad, from what I have seen I hope we don't sign him

Bit concerned we haven't got a proper right back in yet, this is a guess i haven't got a clue what formation he will go with or players for that matter.

I really hope we don't start with Ihiekwe at right-back, he showed last season how poor he was there and Brabin signing 3 central defenders but not recruiting a specialist right-back to replace Holmes seems misguided. Furthe up the field there are more options. I'm with you on Maynard starting in the middle, but feel Stockton or Margetts may start up front ahead of Norwood, who lacks match fitness.

He's had a bit of a new lease of life to be fair, and that started in the past month of last season not just pre-season where Burr's changed his role away from being the focal point of the attack. I don't think he'll hold that position though as Mahon's far too good to be a bench warmer in this league. That issue's cropped up also by the fact that Chapell has arrived here in outstanding form so far.

Dunno whether Kid from Stoke is fit enough to play tomorrow. And Jennings is slowly being converted into a genuine midfielder I reckon.
